Getting around to playing one of my xmas gifts, Outer Worlds 2. Yes a sequel, Yes so far so good. The fast explanation of the game is it has the open world adventure of Fallout and the corporate examination found in Bioshock. Its zany and amusing, level up, get guns and avoid death by enemy, save often kind of adventure. I spend 8 hours last week end grinding my way through a back area eventually a compound where it was 1 enemy at a time, 2 hours only to find my self in a boss fight I could not win yet as I a woefully under skilled XP points guy. Getting out of this area was another couple hours of grind 1 enemy after another but I made it back to town. I am going back to a slower leveling up strategy but I will be back to the boss fight later, maybe when I get a companion. If you liked Outer Worlds 1 you should like outer worlds 2.

Simple retro boomer shooter. Playing on normal. Easy to run out of ammo but your trusty hatchet will do if you use stealthy planning and corners. Favorite weapon is the levered rifle. Its ammo also seems to be the hardest to find. Secrets so far seem to be hidden behind visual site rather than opening secret passage type methods found in other games. Maps are large, combat requires planning and I do try to get all the kills and ammo and loot before I move to the next level. Graphics old school pixilated and I am ok with that as it mimics original doom graphics and fun level exploration. A weapon level up bench and I was good to go. Save often.

Strangely addictive. Strange because it is quite simple in both game play and visual appeal. Finishing 3 room levels ends at a store where you can select from three new weapon attack possibilities, then select from three new variable level enhancements and a table to buy more heals, repairs, etc. then finally gamble on the outcome ... and begin the next 3 levels. I have not gotten very far on this route but then neither have many in the global leaders board. I think it may go from challenging to no fun too quickly. But then it could be my lack of in game figuring it out.

Wow just wow at so many Doom up close and personal levels. Even with a map, much thinking required to go back and figure out the secrets and secret areas. Run and Gun at its finest. Did I say Wow, there should be an achievement for how many times I have paused and said Wow.

This is about as good as it gets for run and gun and seek and destroy while finding secret areas. Smooth game play and by the numbers. I never did figure out how to optimize some of the secret abilities but made it to the robot so far. I see DLC on the steam sale.

It is strangely fun to play, reminding me of the original HalfLife when in the sewers and puzzle solving. Graphics are simplistic and the places to search are huge. It was incredibly inexpensive and I bought it when the reviews had a common theme of wanting more. I too want more. I am not finished either.
