For anyone looking to get into the Extraction Shooter genre, this is both a great introduction and (more importantly) simply a great game. Anyone playing this SHOULD understand, though, that the 'extraction' in Extraction-Shooter does come with a lot of extra baggage as to what it not only implies but also MEANS should you choose to play this game. Yes, anyone can kill you at anytime. Yes, you can lose everything due to a misplay, or bad luck, or simply because you just get destroyed by one of the games numerous scary robots or another player who liked the look of your kit enough to murder you for it.

That is a part of the game. And if you're not interested in dealing with that kind of obscure "not-very-clear" potential of PvP, then maybe you should approach this game with a bit of caution.
While this game isn't nearly as punishing as other games in its shared genre, (looking at you, Escape from Tarkov), it can be frustrating to get your ♥♥♥♥ rocked and to lose everything you just spent a match earning.

That being said, I think this game is worth it; especially right now while its sailing so hard and the games playerbase is so robust. Few games allow for you to have the kind of organic connections, meet-ups, duels, and conflict as a game like Arc Raiders allows. Frankly, it feels like what Escape from Tarkov 'wanted' to do but never quite succeeded due to bugs / coding / general game design, and when you start having those experiences for yourself I feel like that vastly outweighs the negative of a single bad match, or getting ganked, or similar.

This game is fantastic, and I cannot laud Embark more for its very player-first game design. At a time in which it feels like game companies seem to only be thinking about every way they can contrive to strip more money from our collective gamer wallets while delivering the 'least' they can with a videogame, Arc Raiders feels what every game should feel like: fun.

This game is absolutely peak. Plenty of fun to be had here by folks; whether you want something more casual or HARD in true extraction-shooter hardcore fashion.

This game is entirely and absolutely worth its price. Buy it and have fun!

The essence of a fun extraction-shooter condensed to a simplistic perfection. An odd subliminal hallway shooter in which you'll be tested to stay cool during panic-worthy situations & watching your corners.

If you're okay with being increasingly challenged and probably failing a few times to figure out your own pacing / the game's gun-play, this game will certainly scratch that extraction-shooter itch and give you something fun to learn & conquer.

No idea what this was when I picked it up, or that I'd enjoy it so much.

Great game if you like to have your head absolutely messed with in the best way possible. I do heartily suggest if you like diving deep into mysteries, weirdly compelling dark ambiance, and getting your brain ♥♥♥♥-punched so hard you'll leave this game wondering what the ♥♥♥♥ even just happened but being... thoughtful on it?

Oh, and probably depressed.

But again, thoughtfully depressed, so I guess that's better (?) than just being depressed.

Anyways, fantastic game with some clear inspirations, and some much more subtle inclusions of a certain man in yellow for a certain world-ending mythos that will not be named because then I'll welcome in HIS final play and doom us all.

Cheers. 9/10

Overall? Very fun. 7.5/10 so far. There's plenty to be explored, and it'll feel very familiar to anyone whose played the first Dying Light.

Biggest complains are some graphical glitches and tearing, but its largely been minor things. Coop definitely feels like its not 'meant' for multiple players to be in the same game world, but I still have an absolute blast running around rat-packing zombies and bandits as we descended upon them like the group of dirty rats we were with my 3 friends.

A pretty great game, and if they just fix up some of the graphical problems I'd say this is a solid 8/10 for my experience so far. Still have plenty of the game to explore though, so who knows: further developments could certainly shift my opinion towards a higher/lower score.

If you like fun and clever writing, then you should play this game.

Psychonauts 2 is, simply put, fantastically done.

Fun characters, wonderfully creative levels with great design, and fun writing. Obviously a bit of a Nostalgia bomb for many of us, but I honestly think that anyone could enjoy this. If you can, I'd say play through Psychonauts 1 because its also REALLY fun, and literally takes place in the days directly proceeding the 2nd title. BUT, again; even if you don't, I'd still suggest picking this up and just jumping in!

I think the thing that hits me hardest about playing this is how much the game is focused on simply being an adventure. Its not largely punishing or meant to skill-lock players so much as it presents little sandboxes for the player, and I'd honestly forgot what it felt like to just play a game for 'fun' without needing some sort of stress element constantly looming over you.

An old-school classic with a new coat of paint, with all the things that made this game great on full display for all; (and a bit more closure for us long-time lovers of the franchise on many of the old mysteries from the original game).

Solid Tactics game, fantastic use of the 40k setting, and ultimately just a fun squad-builder that's easy to play while being difficult, but enjoyable, to master.

My only regret is we don't have more quality 40k games like this out there.

soundtrack is also a complete baller. Seriously, the synth-choir combo is insanely well used, and brings EVERYTHING to this game in setting tone as you battle your way through the robo-hordes of a Necron Tomb.

9/10 -- (Only thing I would have liked to see were, if possible, a few more upgrade capabilities. Certain builds felt WAY better than others, or like particular gear-kits were the only logical option by the time I got to the end-game. I'm looking at you flamers...)

Necromunda: Hired Gun plays, and feels, like it wishes it was Doom: Eternal. It 'wants' the highspeed gameplay where you're zooming around the map murdering your way through droves of goons and mooks while having to account for the occasional slightly higher-powered Big-Bad, and then an eventual boss battle, but it all just falls flat at times.

As a long-time 40k hobbyist and enthusiest for the setting, there is a small essay worth of things I could touch on. But in the interest of making a coherent review that doesn't feel like literal homework, I'll try to keep it brief to the points that will matter to most people.

Necromunda: Hired Gun lacks the flow they're clearly trying to copy from Doom:Eternal with its more high-speed arcadey shooter dynamic. You're given a number of re-tries whenever you die in a single mission (essentially extra lives), you can repeat missions for greater loot, and you have a number of abilities you can unlock and then can be accessed on a timer per ability. While a number of these abilities can be fun (thermal vision to spot hidden foes, a super blade that kills things in one hit for a short time, and of course your dog friendo who essentially helps you fight), most of it just doesn't work well in-game.

Yes, this game has pretty visuals. the environments have been nailed, and they did a good job of capturing the aesthetic of the gangers in an underhive. That being said, said-gangers only exist to be canon fodder, so if you're expecting deeper stories or intrigue then you're not really going to be getting any of that. Pretty to look at, hollow on the inside.

Power-ups, and abilities, feel gutted. Some of them are 'way' more helpful than others, but most of them are largely useless or will simply get you killed because this game does a horrible job of conveying how much damage you've taken before you simply die.
Thankfully you can buy up to 3 extra lives per mission, but you'll burn through them almost instantly since you literally rez in the same spot you died. You know... the place 'every' AI just murdered you a minute ago? And they'll start shooting at you nearly instantly as soon as you get back on your feet. So, I hope you can get away, otherwise you'll just die over and over in the same spot.

The HUD and user UI is horrible in-game, and VERY un-intuitive. The weapon layout is confusing, and for whatever reason does't allow you to manually map out your guns for your 1-6 basic & pistol weapon slots. Furthermore, if you find a better gun in a mission, it doesn't logically trade out with the gun you're currently holding, and instead you just drop a random weapon. Which means you could easily drop your BEST weapon for some gun that 'looks' useful, only to find out afterwards you traded for literal horse-crap and make your entire mission go from possible to nearly un-playable.

I want the enjoy this game, but its not a good game. Its got too many annoying aspects, straight up bad gameplay, and it quickly starts turning into simply a horde-shooter by level 4. I can't in good faith recommend this game to others.

The voice acting was fun. And I liked the design of the characters skeletal-looking bionic limbs. Besides that though....

5/10

First off, the music is simply incredible. So much of it is so expertly placed throughout the game, it just absolutely MAKES this game in so many places. Not just the action, though, but also the more quieter moments, or when you're simply having a meeting, or just driving through the city. The sound design is a powerful addition, and I would say the time and effort is staunchly felt every step of the journey.

Aside from a few day-1 bugs, I've really been enjoying the game. For folks experiencing graphical glitches, be sure to update your drivers, and also to double-check that you can hit recommended, if minimum, requirements to even run this game. Remember, it is probably going to be fairly intensive. With my current gear, I can only just hit medium settings, but that being said I don't really care overly much about the graphics so much as the story and your involvement in it with the sandbox being provided. So, if you want a read-out on the graphics then... I dunno, look for a different review.

My only real complaint is that the beginning, (Act 1), of the game is effectively spoiled for anyone whose checked out the trailers/content that was released in the previous year for it. But, that being said, the real meat of the game is what comes 'after' Act 1, which is where they really throw the full sandbox at you and let you just enjoy the city they've crafted for your enjoyment.

My only other major complaint, (and this is a big one for me), is the melee fighting. Oh boy, it doesn't feel... very polished. Its just a bit too floaty, and not largely responsive. the system for fist-fighting feels not very fulfilling and mostly like its unfinished. Its hard to 'feel' hits, and personally I find countering is rediculously annoying. Not to mention, good luck if you're planning to use melee weapons in this game. This game is fairly similar to Borderlands in how damage is dealt, so using a sword is a bit... suicidal since people will literally just shoot you down. A+ for realism I suppose, but we're playing in a game where you can augment yourself beyond realities limits. Why not have a more in-depth melee system that's not just the mono-wire or mantis blades? Just my thoughts on it.

Really great title, I think CD Projeckt has outdone themselves massively with this title, and I'm glad they took the extra time to try and fix as many problems as they could before launching CP-2077. The bugs which I've experienced are more minor inconveniences than outright 'game-breaking', (and will most can, and will, likely be fixed in the coming months). Overall, this is a solid title and its been a blast to play.

6/10 for the game overall. Its a fantastic title in many ways, but falls short in too many areas for it to be a 7 or above. Needs some definite work.

BUT: a 11/10 for the music. Gawd DAYUM!
