The way they incorporated the best elements of aoe 2 and 3 really hit home for me. The new wall and siege mechanics are GAMECHANGING! Micro and macro both feel balanced and essential for success.

Tethered is a solid addition to the VR library of probably most RTS fans. The reason I say that is because the thrill of selecting multiple units at once and sending them into battle is distinctly absent. This is not a game where you can compose a nuanced army and break down an enemy base.

However, it is an entirely unique, addictive and fun game that requires very quick work in order to "get good grades" according to the game. I was a gold league Starcraft 2 player and relatively competent at Age of Empires, but this is definitely a new beast. While it is not challenging to survive any level so far in the campaign, the game will remind you that you did poorly with a smattering of E grades. Still, it's so much fun to hatch new Peeps build a good variety of buildings to ultimately harness spirit energy, and manage battle tactics.

I find myself wishing I could fight more types of enemies than just grubs/slugs of various colors and sizes, but that is clearly not where the focus of this game lies. And that's ok! There is certainly a lot of content here that will keep you playing well past 10 hours, but as a player of fast-paced PC RTS games through the ages, I'm not quite bursting with excitement when I play Tethered, just quite focused and enthralled.

GOOD BUY. 9/10. MAKES ME WANT Starcraft or Age of Empires VR SOOOO BADLY THOUGH!

PLEASE ADJUST BOW/ARROW PHYSICS TO MATCH Quivr!!!

That being said, I'm really having a fun time with this game! The monsters are actually scarier than in almost every other game out there, and while I have yet to die in any of the first 7 levels or the special S1 map, I wouldn't call the game easy. It's great that you can choose different upgrade paths for your traps (eventually), but I wish more than just the bear-style trap and mud patch slowing trap were unlocked by level 7 (the fire arrows are cool, but I found I mostly did not need them). I dig the variety in level design for the most part, and I'm amazed how destructible many elements of the environment are (despite that having no effect on gameplay currently).

The menu/home base area is interactive, inventive and polished, and the game's performance is so buttery smooth -- rare hiccups are probably due to my FX 8370 CPU.

Let's not forget this is FREE! Deadly Hunter is definitely one of the most engaging free games out there, with a lot of content to offer right off the bat. Really hoping they adjust the physics to be similar to Quivr, but this is a fantastic start and the game has my attention and support moving forward.

If you own an HTC Vive and enjoy having people over to try VR, this is a MUST HAVE. All the different ways my friends reacted to this game were priceless! Check out my VR gameplay/reaction compilation below:

However, the object interactivity is very limited compared with most other games out there. Without VR, I doubt I would recommend this game, as there are simply not enough compelling gameplay elements to fill out an interesting 2D experience.

Siegecraft Commander has made my computer crash in HORRIFIC fashion 2 out of 3 times, shortly after entering the first level in the first campaign. It's a crash where everything locks up, goes black immediately and there's an extremely loud buzzing sound as my graphics card revs up like crazy and becomes super hot, unnecessarily! I've never seen this with any other game, whether it's VR compatible or conventional.

The time I was able to play and get past the crash point (not sure how), I found this game to be kind of cool and unique, as you had to constantly "shoot out" buildings like cannon fodder in order to branch out your civilization and create better vantage points for the outposts, barracks and other buildings you'll use to eliminate the enemy town. This game also features badass Vive controller skins (beautiful wood grain handle with a gunmetal top).

I think performance could definitely be improved with updates to Siegecraft Commander, and unless they can reach out to me guaranteeing they have patched this recurring crash, I will have to return the game because I'm too scared to put my 1080 through another crash like that.

Early Access Review
UPDATE: The Discord community for this game is amazing! The developer, Blueteak, had us racing to unlock secrets/easter eggs in the game. This is a signal of great things to come.

I downloaded this game right when the early alpha was released, was impressed with the bow mechanics, escalation of wave difficulty, and enemy variety. After the early access version released, I immediately bought QuiVr, and it quickly became the game I think about when I'm not in VR, alongside Arizona Sunshine.

I do miss many of the enemy types they had in the early alpha, but chose to scrap for the paid early access version. However, the ability to close more gates beyond the one directly guarding your keep, while strategically using the magic abilities (throwing fireballs, chain lightning, slow time bubble, etc.) attached to your gear is why I keep coming back for a few rounds every day! I love the Diablo 3-esque feature of being able to "re-roll" the mods on your items in hopes of getting the best quality version in the range of possibilities. There is hardly anything more satisfying in VR than judging an enemy's run speed from hundreds of yards out, and connecting on that nearly impossible shot!

I'm really hoping the devs bring back the skill tree that was available in the alpha, or add more than one mod to each item. This game could be one for the ages if they add more gear and RPG elements!

This game is amazing and hilarious to both play and watch! After you get a feel for the controls, you can jump, grab and climb like Spiderman! My friend legitimately screamed in panic the first time he fell off the skyscraper and plummeted into nothingness, but quickly got used to the feeling. Running with the grip buttons/hand motions works incredibly well and I totally wouldn't mind if it were implemented in some adventure RPG type games.

I really hope the devs are looking into scenic level design, like actual rock faces with breathtaking views. This is the benchmark of gameplay for motion control climbing titles so it would be the best of both worlds if they could incorporate comparable visuals to The Climb and other seated experiences like that.

There are also some absolutely outstanding user-created levels including a wonderful and challenging Super Mario inspired stage!

10/10 will continue to jump off buildings for fun.

After Dante quickly fixed some early bugs, this game is arguably the best online experience in VR. Mixing some of the realistic mechanics of H3VR with a solid touchpad movement system is the next logical step, and he gets it right! Sometimes it seems like I'm not sprinting as fast as I should be (very minor), but the ease of discussing tactics on the fly and executing has never been as engaging and effective as it is now with VR, Onward specifically. Some hilarious body physics quirks and the ease of voice recording are going to make for funny mixed reality videos. Early Access 9/10.

I have been looking for an entry in third person platformer realm since I got my Vive. For 10 bucks, LOOK NO FURTHER! I played the free demo, and after one level (currently out of 12, but more will be added), I was hooked. The first level was super fun getting used to the controls and enemy fighting mechanics. There is at least 10+ hours of polished gameplay reminiscent of Super Mario 3D World and Zelda elements.

That being said, using the Vive motion controllers for this game will likely cost you more than a few hearts in the form of botched maneuvers -- half the time I feel myself wanting to use my Xbox 360 gamepad, but then they do include some aiming mechanics with the motion controls (firing Ballistas/Catapults), making it a tough decision. Upon using a gamepad, the aim controls are then bound to your headset movement -- UPDATE: I found out in addition to seated gamepad mode, you can do a ROOM-SCALE GAMEPAD MODE, which is one of the best experiences I've had on Vive! I can't wait for this style of play to be adapted into certain other games as well.

After two levels in the first world and the variety they've demonstrated in the mini-quests, I can already tell this is far and away worth the $10, and I would not at all be surprised if the price went up sooner rather than later.

I dearly hope this genre takes off! I really love how they threw red herrings in there -- most of the character interactions are designed to make it look like they each had a motive to cause the "violent incident". Some of my friends would have missed details if I did not tell them to look closer. Sure, the voice acting and animations are nothing to write home about, but this is a brilliant introduction to a brand new form of interactive storytelling.

Someone please make a version of Clue like this!
