I don't think I've enjoyed a game this much before in my life. I've 990 hours in Warband mostly because of the content that the Floris mod introduced. The more you play the more you can see how much effort the devs put into this game. I'm blown away by the graphics, the ragdoll affects, blood decals, being able to purchase fiefs and castles instead of by force, having a children successor system, the party system, allocating companions to utilize their skills in support of your army. Being able to trade with Lord's, a much larger quest system, the troop trees and bring able to capture and retrain bandits or follow their own tree, setting up caravans, setting up enterprises. God the work they put into the architecture of the town's and cities, if you haven't taken the time to sight-see, you absolutely need to.

But what I really wanted to mention was the soundtrack. The music is beautiful, the system in how it runs is very theatrical. The developers, composers and the like have given us a very wide spectrum into the classical genre. From calming music, to battle music, to music when the odds are against you, and music for when the march into war begins. For instance, you've just started a battle with someone and as you're standing with your troops all you can hear is the sound of nature. You can issue commands to put your units in certain places on the map but then when you issue the command to charge or to advance the battle music introduces itself. It's a very nice effect.

The feeling never goes away, especially starting up with a practice fight at the arenas just at dawn. The light from the rising sun not just yet upon the arena, the torches hung on the walls clouded by morning fog, the cheering, the immersion of being in the pit with no way out but to survive.

Oneyplays brought me here. This game is difficult, but it is fun. Has a terraria/starbound feel to it (IMO) which drew me to it. The learning curve is steeper than usual. The game delivers a lot of mystery by having little to no tutorial - not complaining, it makes it fun to test what the different wands do, how the world reacts, essentially making you explore and learn this world for yourself. Not a lot of games do this, some people don't like it, I do.

Things I'd like to see :
tighter hitboxes: every now and then a spell will go straight through the head of an enemy with no effect. Usually it's when the mob is hugged up against destroyed terrain. Additionally, I like to peek over rocks and feel that if the hitboxes were trimmed, it would land more shots while remaining realistic, un-nerfed.

Digging: I wish it were easier to dig, and I know that there are tools you can find to use, but being able to slowly dig somehow would be useful for when you get stuck on terrain or just to grab that bit of gold just below the surface. Maybe give kick some more utility?

enemy health bars - could be informative?

It feels to me that fire and water don't have any affect on each other. If you pour water on poison, it clears it away. Though I've had a large fire below me, and blew a hole in a lake above me, the water fell and just rested on top of the still burning fire.

I really like that while this game is permadeath, it will save your progress if you exit to the main menu (while you're alive) for you to resume later. If you're dead though, then you're dead.
I'm curious to know how wide the levels are on the x-axis. I wonder if it keeps going.
I'd like to have a dash/dodge while in air and on ground too. Apologies if anything I've listed either currently exists or has been patched.

I've been here from the start. The Dev is extremely talented. The community mods are fantastic (though absolutely not a "must") and add to a spectacular gameplay experience. Some advice, set alarms for yourself when its time to go to sleep. No, not in the game, for you, the one reading this. Remember to eat, sleep and stay hydrated. I lost 9 hours in the blink of an eye just today.

It's all right.

I'm joking. It's my by far, without a doubt my favorite game. Take my word for it, as of this date I've logged 873 hours on record. That's including mods/addons of Napoleonic Wars, Persistant World, Multiplayer, Native, Viking Conquest and of course the BEST mod out there: FLORIS MOD EXPANDED. Not to mention the 50,000+ overwhelmingly positive reviews. Yeah, the graphics aren't amazing but I'd gladly trade newage graphics for GODLIKE gameplay. Some of you might think well, his PC probably can't handle heavier games so he only plays older games that he can run. Wrong. I've got a decent rig Intel 6600K, Radeon 390x, 16 gigs of ram, SSD drives, etc etc whatever.

Listen, If you're on the fence about playing this. Here's what I want you to do if you were to decide to purchase it. Play the Native game first, get used to the combat, quests, recruiting, leveling up, tournaments, becoming a vassal, become a lord, become a king, own towns, villages, cities, get your butt kicked in online multiplayer et cetera until you're like "okay, I get it, it's a good game." Why do I want you to play the Native first? It is because I want you to download the Floris Mod Expanded and revel in the thousands of improvements. It is stammering the HARD work these modders completed, corroborated and combined into one just utterly fantastic mod. I know, I know, I'm giving more praise to the mod than the game, but it would not at all be possible without M&B developers. Shoot, I bet the devs at Taleworlds even play Floris Mod.

This game does not hold your hand. You choose how you start off, your characters history, where they are from, what they did as a child, what their father did etc. You don't start with an army, or even a few friends. You are alone in the world of Calradia. Yes, depending on the life you chose at the beginning does make it easier or harder for you to get ahead in life. But this game is NOT for the feignt of heart. You are not invincible. If you're on the battlefield with your men, charging at the enemy and you get clocked with a stray arrow to the face, you're done. If you get incapacitated, in the Native version: The battle ends and you will either win or lose depending on force strength and experience. In Floris Mod, you can watch the remainder of the fight. You are not respawned, nor can you play as someone else. You're done. Combat is difficult, it's not a hack and slash, it's not quicktime action counter attacks, it is not simple. Hacknslash will get you killed quickly. You need to see how your opponent is attacking, from which side, and making sure you block that attack while hoping you're quick enough to strike him/her while they line up another attack. This becomes incredibly difficult if you're facing multiple opponents. Even if it's only two. One may stab, the other slash, the other swinging overhead. It is easy to "die", and you will a lot in the early game as a beginner, shoot, even as a veteran sometimes I still get my army killed and captured early game.

There is not enough text nor time to go over how brilliantly amazing this game is. I need you to trust me. If you buy it, go into it with an open mind, even if you have no clue what lords/villagers/kings are talking about. Do what I did, stick with it and you will learn it and love it.
