10/19/2024 Update: the recent update for the next patch for this game to resolve any of these issues will be in mid December. as of now, changing my stance to (do not buy this game)

Gaming Rating: 5/10 (4/10 for those that stuck it out in Early Access)
Game has potential and can reach 8/10 status, but it is plagued with several issues that are riddled with game breaking freezes, Alt F-4 "Undefeated" players, and problems that were addressed in Early Access but still remaining up in release. Despite my criticisms, a thumbs up is only there for the games potential. (which that is on borrowed time)

Pro: Alot of boxers to choose from
Pro: Alot of different punches, having some boxers having unique animations/abilities for their punches
Pro: Early Access to Release - punch animations have improved compared to early access
Pro: The depth of the game can be rewarding the more time to put into the game, trying out many different boxers.
Pro/Con: Career Mode, create a boxer and run the gauntlet of fighting other ai boxers to reach the title of Undisputed

Con: Online - Rage Quitters Reign Supreme: Playerbase have zero incentive or meaningful consequence to stay throughout their fights. i.e. If they play ranked or rather Ranked 1 player. any time they are losing, they will simply disconnect. thus keeping their record while at the same time, giving their winning opponent a loss on their record, In addition, whether their opponent does "win" they cannot progress in their online ranking.

Con: Online - No UI information of who you are fighting against. Undisputed Community if full of quitters (again lack of incentive to curb such behavior). when finding a opponent online, Should have the information UP FRONT (fighter record, Including DNF percentage) thus mitigating the issue of wasting your time fighting some one that has little intention of finishing the fight when they are not going to get a easy win against a experience opponent.

Con: Online Desync Issues (PC) - This, arguably claimed, has improved compared to Early Access, however Desyncing/phantom punches can still occur (probably due to region), and compared to other later fighting games, has no business being in a boxing game like Undisputed.

Con: Online - Hackers (PC) - This has been an issue in Early Access, it will more likely still be an issue. It remains to be seen if Denuvo anti cheat becomes a viable deterrent for those that continue to cheat online. with the game also being available on Consoles, would be no surprise if PC version gets abandoned if it does not.

Con - Stamina/Game Mechanics : In Early Access, despite all the problems of 0.7 the one thing that it had going for it, unintentionally, was its stamina management. Boxers that sought to swing for the fences would find themselves in a bad situation in the later rounds. That is null and void in the release version. Online Community have at large, opt for the smooth brain approach of throwing power punches over and over again all for the hope to get that lottery ticket hit. Why?

1. the stamina penalty is too low compared to 0.7
2. the overall stamina recovery is too fast compared to 0.7
3. when they are gassed and exhausted, they still maintain the same strength, speed and power as if they were in the first round
4. chaining power shots on opponents can possibly put them in a stun state, keeping them stuck to eat more shots over and over, unable to defend themselves until they are KO'ed

Pro/Con - Career Mode: in its current form it is a skeleton, no training mini-game, very few or any cut scenes, no behind the scene commentary or voices. just a couple of screens with text and options to choose from. 1. pick training options for your fighters 2. make money deal. 3. fight 4. repeat. do this over and over again til your boxer retires. that's it.

General Summary: After putting in over 700 hours via Early Access. Here are my thoughts.

The game is not worth 70 dollars, 60 dollars or even 50 or 40 dollars. 30 dollars at best due to its current form.

Steel City Interactive's decision to not have the PC community to test out the 1.0 build 3 to 5 months ago was a ballsy move for the hopes of getting as much revenue as possible. Perhaps that decision was more of the issue of resources as they needed time to build the game to get it ready for consoles. Pessimistically speaking, I would not be at all surprised if SCI makes another decision going forward to put their time and focus on the Console version while letting the PC version wither and die.

Even if the release version would still be hands off from the Early Access Community, the unfortunate truth that the Online problems that plagued the EA version of the game, are still there at release is unfortunate. that also includes a few game mechanic requests that have been ignored, and now have creeped into the game and is now a visible problem. examples of these would be:

- Getting Gased/Exhaustion state being barely a inconvenience and not a life or death situation due to poor decisions from the player

- Diagonal Dodge having no stamina deterrent

Ultimately, Undisputed in its current form does not deserved to be purchased at 70 dollars. However, if SCI is willing to fufill their promise on continuing to improve on the game and fix at least Half of these problems. then the game can be a fun experience with a many years of life. (much like the fight night series). IF not, then the best they can do he make a bunch of OP (then later nerfed to the ground) boxers, put them behind a paywall and keep milking it until EA puts two brain cells together to squeeze out another Fight Night game with all the monetization and little of balance.

When the patch (or patches) get released for this game, i will change my review accordingly
