I'm a fan of the original. I regret my purchase.
There is no story here, it's become just another Diablo Clone with a convoluted levelling system.

Story - there is none.
In the first original you start much the same way, on your own. Things get messed up getting to a town and the story immediately starts developing in to an intriguing experience rich with lore of the mythology of the age. It is quite clear that you've stepped in to the madness as it began.
This.... this is underwhelming if you're being nice, non existent if you're honest. An opening cutscene thrown to 2 decades later. Only one person to talk to with nothing to say other than Monster Bad and act as a meat shield that runs away as soon as you actually need them.

Gameplay - ugh. I know ARPG's like TQ and Diablo are effectively just a scroller going from one area to the next in a linear fashion until you get to the end but this.... This really locks you in to the feeling where you just walk down narrow passages until it opens up briefly before splitting in to more narrow passages. It feels more like spelunking than exploring a surface world.

New levelling system. TQ was restrictive on advancement points, but you could work with it. This has decided you still get 2 (active) mastery points and 2 passive ones along with a couple of attribute points which sounds like more and a good breakdown, until you find out there's a core "mastery" section, so where you could develop both masteries previously, however slowly, here you can only ever develop 2 thirds. BUT IT GETS WORSE!

The old mastery slider on the left, that you could funnel stuff in to until you can get the ability you desire.... that's gone! Well, it's still there, but you need to develop the skills at one rank to advance it. Say goodbye to unique builds that fit your desired playstyle, now you have to develop skills that have diablo style points in each and at each it unlocks abilities.... which isn't bad, until you think I DONT WANT ANY OF THIS!!!!

At the moment it's a bit buggy, mobs are glitching spawning in areas that don't allow them to move, or fire at you whilst being perma protected or copping a beating whilst dancing on the spot, not great.

Controls.
I do like that they've expanded the available skill slots, but they've done this at the expense of original hotkeys for weapon toggling and map viewing, i can't seem to find a highlight drops like the original to neaten and streamline the game so you're only picking up what you want, the map key's been changed to M and is no longer an overlay so you get to clearly see that spelunking experience.

The only other NPC's I've come across are traders, which makes me feel even more that the background I was given is nothing. It may turn out later that your character was just spawned on a mountain by the gods with no knowledge which is about the only reason I can give for absolutely no freaking story, but that's the laziest freaking thing I've heard of to get around implementing some kind of plot development. It'll probably be something like you'll know when you finish it.... but that is NOT TITAN QUEST.

Crafting
No Relics, No charms, Nothing

Although I can appreciate what they were trying to do on the character side of things, they've failed.
No appreciation for the lack of story and empty world.
Feels like a pure cash incentive to rob fans and deliver nothing.

DO NOT BUY THIS YET! Refunding if able, and I even re-bought the original and IT on steam and the latter expansions despite actually owning a physical copy of the only parts worth having TQ and IT. I wanted this to be great, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

11 years in early access, scheduling compatibility with GeForce NOW before core concepts they had originally planned. Will never be finished, they just want an income with no commitment.

Nothing has a due date on the roadmap, nothing shows it has activity in the last month. There are no goals set with this project, the attitude of people that have "will do it when they do it, ♥♥♥♥ you" mentality.

RNG based everything. It would be more interesting to roll a die 65 times and change whether you win on 4 6's in a row, roll 1 to 6 concurrently, whatever you want.

If that isn't enough go play any civ builder game for the first 50 turns, then restart. It's essentially the same thing. It doesn't even count anything after the mission objective is completed so you can't even boost your score. Waste of time, waste of money

Vastly inflated difficulty through ridiculous resource costs, pathetic production, research and limited growth. Any attempt to change the default difficulty and world settings to make the game anything other than boring will disable achievements as will using mods that actually give some kind of QoL. Diplomacy about as inspired as wiping a turd with your jocks and wearing them for 3 more days.
Also, seems abandoned with 1 update in 2 years that addresses only 3 issues leaving the game in a horrible QoL sinkhole. Could have been good if they stuck around long enough to polish it instead of releasing a commercial product and going straight in to producing another fast money grab which will probably land in the exact same shallow grave of disappointment.

Store page fails to mention that this is one of those "one giant cutscene" games with next to no interaction from the "player" spaced so far apart you're long bored with the story and nearly dropped your controller or fallen back in your chair asleep with no warning that you actually need to do something for 2 seconds before it's another 10 minute cutschene.

I'm not a fan of visual novels, less of a fan of "games" that essentially render a movie and place limited interaction points and just disgusted that they've worded the page as though it's a tomb raider like experience. I've watched for 15 minutes and pressed 6 buttons/keys and most of them were loading in to the "game" over $50 AU is a wrought. 5 might be acceptable.

Unfortunately this game will not even think about running. It won't even reach the stage of creating the basic ini files from first run. I have followed all the instructions given for troubleshooting and this is still the case. If it actually requires updating the C++ runtime libraries to a specific set from 10 years ago which not only will affect anything requiring more recent ones, it will introduce massive security vulnerabilities. This workaround is.... disgusting.

A fix using a beta branch from 2015 and runtimes 10 years out of date that was never introduced to the main branch should be enough to prove this game is abandoned. It doesn't even seem like devs respond in the forums anymore.

Not the worst warhammer game out there, but there are some big oversights and general cheapness to it that makes it worth about 2 bob.

Basic oversights
You can't cycle through enemy units in view, which can make finding them tedious.
No option to centre on enemy movement, and the movement icons tend to permanently be in the top right of the screen, even if it's the edge of the map when those enemy are moving behind you. You essentially need to spam space on the enemy turn or can miss their position entirely.
They have "scanner blips" to show enemy units out of field of view but near the edge, but if you're not looking at that part of the screen at the time it blips you miss it, and seems to only occur occasionally or on certain missions.
these are the three big ones which make the game incredibly frustrating.

As to the cheapness, it feels very VERY 1990 as far as design goes. You know, when games were severely limited in space due to small hard drives or needing to run off 6 cds. All conversation are static images whose dialogue isn't logged in any way so you can't go over anything, not that it means anything at all there's no substance to it and doesn't add to the game, just wasted development time and money.

The in game mission selection screens seem as though they were designed with more depth planned but rushed out, in that it looks like they wanted to make it like Chaos gate or similar in mission selections but decided just to give you more static images to look at.

When you couple together the fact that they've stripped all the content out to make another $100+ in dlc, which if included would influence the recommendation based off value... it's pathetic.

If you compare to starcraft 2 and their staggered essentially dlc releases each of those provided a full game with a lot more effort and focus to content whereas this games dlcs are overpriced turds.

Don't bother. It's not the worst Warhammer game out there, but thanks to the "milk the fanboy" approach by the developers it's ridiculously close.

Not the worst game out there these days, but far from happy to say buy it. My answer will always be don't bother.

A survival game with a monkey island playstyle isn't the best option anyway, there are next to no areas to explore, you don't really need anything built in your bunker unless you want to spend a lifetime doing nothing in which case I'd say any other survival/builder game is better.

Crafting is meh, exploration is bad, storyline is meh to very bad. Combat is annoyingly bad. Basic controls are infuriatingly bad (mostly with the constant passage of time and the ability to pause disappearing all the time.

I've wasted my time in this bad game so you don't have to.

Actually $#%#ing garbage.

Essentially a visual novel port from console with walking bits where using the keyboard results in ridiculous exaggeration of movement. Takes around 30 minutes of cutscenes and pressing a button when told to even get to that. Nothing like expected and terribly insulting. How this game got so many high ratings is an absolute mystery to me. It's not a game.

Just an update, it seems they're more interested in adding placeholder content atm than finishing that content before moving on to the next thing. Commoners in game and not interractable, with no further updates to them for 3 months but lots of other stuff added partially!

Not a bad idea but there are so many "future" developments that character development is stunted so far that it's ridiculous. Fighting is the main passtime to level, but every fight enemy has 15% chance to hit that feels more like 90%, whilst your multiple 70+ attacks miss, making it feel awful. Nothing better than losing a fight to creatures 3 levels lower becfause your 90%'s miss.

On top of that gathering and crafting require so much focus that once all these future developments are implemented, you're not going to be able to do anything. Think Might and Magic with DnD points system. It's not going to work.
