As a big fan of the first three dragon age games from a sense of world building, and the amazing characters and stories that sprang from such an incredible setting, the good parts of Veilguard (and there are some, certainly) don't come close to making up for the sadness of how that setting and characters have been handled. If you're new to the series, it might be a good time. If you're a fan of everything that's come before, spare yourself the disappointment and let this one pass you by.

Amazing! It's easily the best CRPG I've played in a long time with a great story and at 175 hours I've still only gone through one mythic path and halfway through another. I'm genuinely astounded by how much the mythic path choices just change the general feel of the way your crusade advances, not to mention the dialogue changes, the way people interact with you, etc. The characters are fantastic, even the ones that I'm not a fan of are certainly memorable. My only complaint is a personal preference one that you can get around with some mythic feat choices, but this game expects you to prebuff like your life depends on it, and it will. The amount of stunlocking/fearlocking you can be subjected to by the end of the game is pretty substantial and the last bit of it can get pretty frustrating if you're using turn based combat and have to suffer through multiple turns of just skipping through your characters. A small complaint in an otherwise incredible experience and something you can address with some pre-planning!

-Started in the middle of the desert missing and arm and starving to death.
-Made it to a town and barely scavenged enough dirty rags off some hobos murdered by the guards to buy a
piece of bread.
-Continued scavenging till I could buy a twig of a robot arm to replace mine and get a shack to call my own.
-Lived in the town, grew to love the people and the merchants and began mining until I saved up enough to get a stockpile of supplies and hire two other vagrants to set out on my own to find a nice place to settle and build a farm.
-Get eaten by murder giraffes 100 feet from town.

10/10 would become Giraffe dung again.
