Having played the RPG, the FASA world building and read many stories as well as all the Mechwarrior and Battletech video games, Mechwarrior 5 comes out as following the Lore very well, closest of most games based on the Fictional stories. Though some of the missions could have used some more refining and better pathing, doing the Campaign mode feels nice and keeps very close to the time-line and story of the Inner Sphere before the lead up to the Clan Invasion.
Having ready many of the books and the Pen and Pencil guidebooks, the Mechwarrior 5 series has followed that LORE and it's refreshing to those who know and love the Inner Sphere that understand the political inferno and intrigue of the Major Houses!

I've played MMORPGs from the Beginning, starting with Meridian 59, to Everquest and World of Warcraft. Before that, I played games called "MUD"s or, Multi-User Dungeons then MUSEs, Multi-User Simulated Environments. All the Final Fantasy games are a rich-story-driven series and FFXIV Online really brings Role Playing back into MMORPG. Character/Character animations, where players can have their Characters interact through emotes. (Have to complete the Eternal Bonding questline), but even so, that is unique in Fantasy MMOs and its a great start, but the stories and the quests are well written and a lot of fun. There are also random events called "Fates" to keep a player on their toes and offer some nice rewards.

If coming from a MMO like World of Warcraft, the FFXIV interface may seem overwhelming. Its crafted much differntly due to the wealth of options a player has. Also, if you came from WoW and didn't play it as an RPG, you'll probably not understand some of the RPG driven parts of FFXIV.

FFXIV is a wonderful game and its growing still. I recommend to anyone who has played MMORPGs to roll through the 30 day trial period at least and give this game a try. You'll enjoy it!
