I've sunk about 25 hours into the game across the last three betas and today's release, and I love this game. If you like twitch shooters, lightspeed arena action, and plenty of movement options, you should absolutely buy this game. For those of who are unsure, or haven't been fragging since Quake's glory days, you should be aware that this game has a learning curve, and your probably going to take some lumps as you adjust to it. First off, go to the tutorials and watch them. Jump into private lobby and get a feel for the chracters and how the UI and game modes work first before you jump into a match. If you're too impatient to do all that, well, you really only have yourself to blame when your teams yells at you for not playing the objective.

You also need to be aware that LawBreakers is PvP only. No bots, the story is conveyed through descriptions of the characters and text boxes on the loading screen, and no horde mode equivalent.

Now, for the elephant in the room: Overwatch, and how they compare. I'll be blunt, the comparisons are superficial. Overwatch is character based, with each and every character behaving (somewhat) differently. LawBreakers is class based with a bit of extra pizzazz, and really has more in common with Quake or UT. Furthermore, LawBreakers is more balanced than Overwatch, with every class being perfectly viable provided you play to their strengths thanks to the fast movement and mixture of Zero Gravity zones. Also, no camping snipers or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ turrets here, though that's not to say LawBreakers doesn't have problems of its own. The Harrier is pretty dominant at the moment, as not many people know how to play around the newest class yet, and the Wraith is still really good in damn near every situation.

As for the maps... well, there are some really good ones, and there are some pretty terrible ones. Vertigo and Station are, frankly, pretty miserable to play on. Especially Vertigo, which has zero cover anywhere and the spawn points are right next to the objectives, making it trivially easy to defend against all but the most coordinated of assaults. Station has similar problems with every objective appearing in a tiny little murder-room in the middle of a 0-g area. Expect to run into gunslingers outside, and juggernauts inside, and be ready to get gibbed by both. That said, maps like Mammoth, Promenade, and Vertigo have none of those problems, and do excellent jobs of providing several routes into any objective from a myriad of angles while mixing up large open spaces with cramped corridors, all with plenty of cover.

As for the fun stuff, the skins and soundtrack are amazing! I would buy an album of LawBreakers' soundtrack in a heartbeat, and even the most basic skins look damn good, with a nice mixture of classy and flashy with a color for every occaision. I also like how the game looks, but art design is more of a personal preference. I've heard some people complain about sillouhette reading, but honestly? It's not that hard. The differences are pretty damned obvious in all but the most hectic of firefights.

So, in conclusion? I'd give the game a solid 9/10

TL/DR Version?

Pros: Lightning fast movement, silky smooth gunplay, sick skins, sweet music, fun maps, no cartoony ♥♥♥♥, 0g is great, rocket jumping, feels like a natural evolution of the Quake/UT formula, only $30, Bosskey has promised to support the game for free after realease with new maps, modes, and classes

Maybes: Has a bit of a learning curve, absolutely requires twitch reflexes and good aim, art design may not be for everybody, and Blitzball is a dunk-fest

Cons: Vertigo is a chore to play on, Harrier is pretty dominant right now, and there's only quick play. Ranked is coming though, it's just not out on release.
