I have played over 600 hours of this game and still have much to learn. The content is amazing, the dev team is phenomenal, the modding community is better than most I have encountered. If you want to play more casually you can. If you want to see major death and destruction of your colonists you can have that too.

I recommend this game to all I know and hope that many more find and get to enjoy this absolute gem.

I was originally gifted the first game of this series. After spending many hours playing that, I decided it was time to give this one a go. When I purchased and dove in, it was before the big recent updates. I found mysel immersed in the game for hours, adjusting to the new mechanics, enjoying seeing the old, fighting my way through hordes, etc.

After the update it's even better. They have modified the blood plague system in a way that lends to more true challenge, even if you're the type to play on the easy mode. This isn't to say it still isn't easy on that mode, but it makes going in to get a plague heart a bit more harrowing, as it should be, because you find yourself running into a whole lot more plague zombies and facing more infection.

All in all, this game is fantastic and so enjoyable that I would absolutely recommend for anyone looking for a free world, zombie game that also has resource/base management, while still being able to play full on single player.
