Rockstar’s decision to add BattleEye years after the release of GTA V is shady, especially considering it was bypassed within a day, and mod menus are already working again. I will point out that I am still able to play gta online still(using linux). The lack of dedicated server support combined with peer-to-peer online play is a serious concern, as it leaves players vulnerable by exposing their IP addresses. This alone is enough for me to say I will never purchase or support Rockstar again.

But it's not just Rockstar—Steam is complicit in this behavior. They had GTA V listed as Steam Deck Verified, which now feels like false advertising(It was removed), given that the game’s online functionality is broken for Steam Deck users. Additionally, with Steam's DRM and their lack of true ownership over games, there's a real risk. If your account gets banned, you could lose access to everything. And if Steam were to shut down, I have serious doubts that they'd ever remove the DRM from the games I've paid for. Thankfully, I've found a way to preserve my library just in case.

I refuse to support this kind of behavior from both Rockstar and Steam. Going forward, I’ll be getting my games from GOG or using torrent/usenet sites where I know I’m getting better value.

Story mode is good however, PVP is awful with the horrid netcode and people who like to lag.
