I'd like this game, but despite my fast and reliable internet connection, I can only connect about one day out of every four. And only once, maybe twice, in that day. Consistently unable to connect at all, so I can't even get into my character for offline mode.

I'd like to talk about how transformations work versus xenoverse 1, but I can't even get to the point where I get to the first saiyan transformation since if the game crashes I usually can't log back in that day.

Story's pretty similar to 1 so far, parallel quests are pretty much a direct copypaste so far. The city's a bit more interesting, though.

I like bandai namco games but their netcoding always leaves me incredibly frustrated with them.

10/10 would watch Sectopod destroy own facility again.

Having completed the game on Commander difficulty with Ironman on second playthrough, I don't really take people complaining that the game is too hard that seriously. Xcom is a difficult game, and not for the faint of heart. That being said, there are some issues.

The bad:

- Optimisation seems a little raw at the moment. Running a slick rig at the moment - won't bother dishing out the specs, but am running a 980 - and the framerate drops to disappointing levels at pretty much any opportunity. Have tried the game on even better top-end rigs, still encounter framerate issues. Hopefully this'll be fixed (or at least improved) with a few patches.

- Graphical issues. Had a few, ranging from funny colours requiring restart to character model positioning. Found the latter to be more annoying, particularly on downed soldiers, as they appear to be one place when they are in fact in another, on occasion.

- Elite enemy variants. I don't really have that much of a gripe on this one, but it'd be nice if the upgraded version of enemies such as the ADVENT troops and some of the other later enemies that get "Elite" variants got an additional ability or new way to fight instead of only increased health and damage. Since the "upgraded" models of these enemies look the same, it can be tricky to remember who you're dealing with (and how much damage their weapons do, since they always seem to look the same too.) The good number of new enemies you have to deal with certainly mitigates this however.

The good:

General game structure: As a reviewer put it regarding the XCOM:EU, base management and combat work harmoniously together and neither feels like they were just tacked on to the other to check some box. It's also a lot more sleek than the original Xcom those decades ago - in a way I do miss keeping track of all the supplies and managing multiple bases, but frankly I think that slimming it down like this has improved gameplay pace significantly without making it too breezy.

Gameplay: It's XCOM:EU, but sexier and with a fresh style. A faithful sequel with more than enough mechanics to keep a person interested. No MECs on your side (at this stage, at least, outside of hacking) but plenty of other ways to stick it to the ayy lmaos.

The Spokesman: He can speak for himself on this one.

There's plenty more good to write about and a fair few more issues to complain about regarding bugs (largely graphical/performance-related, as far as I know) but frankly, I'd rather get back to playing another round of Xcom 2.

I urge players to try ironman on a difficulty they're comfortable with (or at least just using autosaves, since you need to complete the game once just to unlock ironman.) It improves the pace plenty and with true permadeath, you can really feel the tragedy of your men dying due to your mistakes (or occasionally, through sheer misfortune,) and the elation of pulling off a mission in which you stuck it to the ayys flawlessly.
