Finally a coop game where every body has there own distinct role and we can work together for the greater good! My biggest problem with coop games is that most of the time you ether play with identical clones (like in Left4Dead), or the variety of the characters are not too distinct from each other (like in PayDay). Deep Rock Galactic not just managed to give distinct tools to each player, but do it in a way where these characters relay on each other to complete the mission, since it can't be completed otherwise.
The other aspect why I play this game is the vibe. I love dwarfs, beer and bug killing. Besides that I like the kind hearthed tone of the game, where you don't want to save the world all the time, you not against some evil villainy or something serious, you just get together with your friends for some fun game. The creation of this atmosphere is supported by a lot of aspect of the game, like the fun activities what you can do on the main base, the cosmetics and the funny dialogues. The upgrade system is another major point here since it lets you experiment with different loadouts and always gives you a next grand objective, in the form of a new weapon, or a new override later.
All in all its a fun game and I just wrote down some of my favorite aspects of it in details. But to not leave anything out here is a bullet point list from the other amazing feats of this art piece:
- Its amazing that the devs are actually listening to there player base
- The community is kind
- The procedural generated maps are feels new, challenging and solvable all the time
- There is zero micro-transaction
- The special events are actually brings in new elements to the game
