One of the best souls clones out there. If you're like me and you thought you were pretty much done with the genre after Elden Ring, it'll remind you what you liked about it.

Ironically, they did something that From Software should have done for Elden Ring. You have an optional Sekiro style parry in this game and it works very well at giving you an alternative to spamming rolls/dashes. Makes the combat a lot more fun.

It's not as good (so far, I have not beaten the game yet, will revisit the review if my opinion changes) as From Software's Souls heights (Dark Souls and Bloodborne), but it's definitely better than Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3 as well.

This game lifts a ton of stuff quite clearly from From Software's games, especially Bloodborne, but it's done very well.

The good parts:
- The combat is fluid and fun
- The weapon creating system is really cool
- The bosses are fun (though I found them pretty easy, but maybe that's because of my experience with soulslikes)
- The weapons are all unique and very different from one another
- Visually, it looks very good, nice lighting effects
- They actually managed to make a gank boss fight that is difficult, fun and not frustrating

The bad parts:
- The map is very linear and not as intricate as Dark Souls (though let's be fair, that was a lightning in a bottle thing, even From Soft never managed to make a map as well designed again)
- It feels like there's too many systems going on at once. You'll get it if you play it. If they make a sequel, they will probably cut a few of them and refine the best ones
- The jumping feels like ♥♥♥♥
- Too many repeated traps (seriously, if you ever see a bridge that looks like it might not be sturdy, it will collapse if you walk on it, every time)
- The soundtrack. There are some good songs (I like the one in the hotel and some of the boss themes) but it's pretty weak overall
- The voice acting is not so great

game of the year

The game is very fun but they really need to remove the account penalties for leaving matches. It's the 2nd time in 3 days I get banned for 30 hours because the game is crash-happy.
