I spent YEARS awaiting this game, i was pumped, i mean Civ 6 was incredible. Like how could 7 not be amazing, just build on what had already been an incredible success.

Instead, they took the confusing shifting environment and timeline of Humankind and stuffed them into their game and broke this down to a board game with virtually no personality. Its awful, it barely even plays like the game we know and love. Ben Franklin out there leading the.....chinese?....why? This is why developers shouldnt try and reinvent the wheel. Civ 6 was an award winning success, a game played over and over and over by thousands of people to this very day. Civ 7 was dead on arrival, once we unboxed it and found an entirely different game wearing our favorite games face, most of the player base reverted back to the old game. Maybe there is a time when they will rebuild this, maybe it will go back but i think unless the dev team takes a look in the mirror and admits they got away from what we loves and this is not what hte fans asked for, it will just be a huge financial flop

So leading right off, the game plays great. Great golf, lots of neat stuff in the career, all the things you would want in a solid golf game.

EXCEPT, 100% of the cosmetics are locked behind a VC grind so deep you may as well just forget about it. I'm talking a pair of shoes runs you like 1150 VC, and I'm earning like maybe 200 VC for 18 holes IF i play a smoking round. The rest of it is on a battle pass system, where you play for free. Just to give you a gauge on that grind, i earned like 74 points on the CHP for 18 holes of golf. I need like 1000 to move from tier 5 to tier 6. Same goes for clubs and balls, just a HUGE grind for VC just to unlock it. Like your playing HOURS AND HOURS just to scrape up a starting point. And then you gotta invest points and fittings into the club to really unlock its potential, which is a super cool mechanic but again IT TAKES HOURS just to scrape up points to unlock a club, let alone really dig into its potential. You know what else is locked behind VC? THE ABILITY TO SPEND ATTRIBUTE POINTS. Like PER POINT i gotta dish out 200 and some odd change VC just to spend a SINGLE AP POINT. ONE POINT. I cant even earn enough VC to spend a single AP.

Now no worries 2K has a remedy for all this. Just spend more money. Duh. You can buy VC packs, there is 4 of them, the 19.99 gets you 2700 VC. I bought 2 of them cause i wanted a lil drippy drip and im an adult with disposable income right? Didnt even get me started on the right track. Like i couldnt even piece out a full outfit, and a set of clubs. Its ridiculous and everyone should hold off buying this game until 2K walks back its VC gains redux

Anno but for people who like cults and Cthulhu and being the bad guy.

Adds 3 maps that are only available in multiplayer, and cosmetics that are only available in multiplayer, and it add 3 guns, all of which were already free to add in via mods before this update literally broke every mod option available to us.. So all in all it adds nothing.

Really wanted to give it ago despite all the bad reviews and supposed bad dev behavior. Took literally almost no time to realize this game is barely a skeleton of a game, really really poor even for an EA game. The customization UI is difficult to work in at best, the models are very poor, the function is even worse. The game didnt even get its own loading screen art, its all done with AI so its a mash up of nonsense and gibberish. This is like a concept at best, wouldnt call it a product anyone should pay for. 0/10 dont buy it even on sale

July 24 Edit: It would appear I've been banned from this games discord for this review. I never spoke in there which means he found my steam name and cross referenced my discord user name and banned me. I feel like that tells you exactly as much about this game developer and their willingness to improve, as you need to know. Also im not sure why it doesn't say it on the review but i 100% refunded this hot pile of trash.
