I still play Verdun regularly and have been following the whole development of this game since it was announced. I assure you, the hype is real. It is so rare to find a game so good at release, the perfect balance of fun and historical accuracy, truly a work of art. It is most definetely worth your money now, and with more content to come, I am sure that a passionate community of veterans will form and make the game even more fun and active for the years to come (Verdun still gets full matches after so many years, you can bet this will too, don't listen to all those "game will be dead in a month" youtubers).

Disclamer: if you don't own any tactical fps games, buy it. It's cheap and will give you a feel for the genre, but be warned:
It costs 6 euros.
It feels like 6 euros.
I had been considering its puschase for a while seing how Controlled Pairs and Bigfry hyped it up as a great tactical fps but I must say I was not impressed. The game feels clunky (as in not fluid both with respect to movement and gunplay), the graphics look like something from 2010, the matchmaking takes forever. This game has great potential but still needs quite a bit of work so i guess I'll keep it on my radar but as of now it is not worth it.

Some background: hardcore fps fan here, I play tarkov, squad, rainbow six, arma 3...
The best way to describe this would be if swat 3, r6 and hotline miami had a threesome: it has the concept of swat 3 but without the clunkyness, the gameplay and comms of r6 but without the silly gadget focused operators and the map knowledge (maps are procedurally generated) and finally hotline miami's speed and artstyle (which take a few matches to get used to, must say).
Real world tactics apply such as strategizing, having brief and accurate comms, holding angles, covering teammates, taking split second decisions and mantaining focus.
All this combined makes for a fun, skilled based, bitesize room clearing game, definetely worth it.

THE UNDERDOG
Hunt: showdown doesn't feel like a battle royale. It's a coop game and the best one at that.
This game is still in early access but it is so unique in everything it does it's just a must buy. Since I bouht it two weeks ago I haven't touched any other game in my steam library and have been playing 2/3h per day.
The game has a very steep learning curve so I strongly advise finding someone to play with on the official discord server or buy it with a friend.
If you are able to get over the initial frustration of getting headshotted by really good players, you will find out the game is extremely well balanced and you will learn how to survive a lot of the situations that got yourself killed in the first place. Hunt is half strategy and half good aim, if either of those fail you will get punished the hard way; while being so brutal it teaches you that every decision counts.
Writing a wall of text as a review is not my cup of tea (go watch a few videos on youtube idk), so my advice is to just buy it already and try it yourself; if you are into tactical/hardcore fps games you will 100% enjoy this game.
EDIT: the 1.0 release update changed the game quite a lot but I will not be one of those bitter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that give a bad review because "my elite control settings changed gnegne", this game is still worth a buy even if i hope the devs acknowledge that the direction they are taking with the changes that were made pre release (choosing the larger casual audience instead of passionate fans) is wrong. This is still the most fun you can have on the market but before it was even better.

Pretty cool concept, only thing is aming is pretty much impossible because of the ragdoll phisics. It's so much spray and pray the devs introduced "gangster mode".
I love this "spray and prey" mechanic but since the game is centered around that I wish ammo was more plentyful. Also they should remove ammo boxes from the game and make guns spawn with bullets already in it: if you find a gun you already have and you pick it up, you get more bullets.
