There is plenty to like about this game. The sound design is awesome, the enemy variety is nice, and I really enjoyed the gun play especially. However I quickly got to a stopping point due to frustration about the boss fights and I share the opinions of other reviewers here:

“Every boss in this game seems to have been designed in the most frustrating and obnoxiously unfun way possible, most bosses themselves are incredibly unthreatening and the way that difficulty is added is through adds spawning. Every single boss you encounter has adds spawning throughout in phases, generally because the developer couldn't figure out a way to make a challenging fight without them, and wasn't sure how to provide you with ammo midfight (One hint, make it drop from the boss you're fighting).”

“You'll have bosses that take 1000+ direct shotgun shells to kill when your max ammo is 32 shells. Every boss also has infinitely spawning enemies that are meant to be a source of ammo, but many of them take more ammo to kill than they give back in higher difficulties.”

All my gear is at +19 and yet I still find it hard or impossible to make it through some of the boss fights. There's only so much shooting, reloading, rolling, ammo crate deploying, and healing that you can do per second and it's often just not enough to stay alive. Having my wingman there too only makes it worse due to scaling. And this is only on Normal mode. Further, having to play the same bosses over and over and over as I re-rolled my Adventure game in search of specific gear made me get to the point of stopping playing completely.
