Ignoring the controversy surrounding the preorder and microtransaction tactics, Mankind Divided is a step down from Human Revolution in most aspects. The story is brief and left me feeling like little had been accomplished over the course of the main missions, which only takes a few hours to beat if you ignore side content. The graphics have slightly improved, but the game looks far worse than HR since the eye-catching black and gold art style from the previous game has been dropped in favor of dull, gray realism, and since there are fewer locations to explore than in HR. The gameplay isn't any worse than in HR, but it hasn't improved any either, so if you have any problems with the easy cover-based shootouts and slow, cutscene-ridden stealth, they will carry over. The replayability is low if you don't anticipate a new game plus playthrough, and I can only recommend one of the DLCs as being worth playing, that being a Criminal Past. Overall, Mankind Divided is a significant step down from Human Revolution. Skip this if you aren't a huge fan of the previous game.

Seems like a nice, simple calm game for the first 15-20 minutes or so, then it becomes a stress-filled hell full of complex train lines, a severe lack of carriages, and an abundance of bad decisions. It's a hell I'd love to go through again and again, though.

The best destruction engine I've seen in a game, ever. The gunplay isn't perfect, and I could care less for the story and characters, but this is one of the best stress relievers I've ever played. Just wak up to a building and put a hole in it with a hammer if you want to. That's all there is to say.

This game is Saints Row the Third. There is no getting around this fact. The same map, same weapons, same style of humor, but with a couple of slight changes that ultimately add very little, and in my opinion, detract somewhat from the game. The superpower mechanic makes you overpowered to the point where every single enemy encounter and boss fight is trivial, and makes any sort of vehicle completely obsolete very early on. The humor falls flat more often than not, and the virtual reality idea is not played around with much, making it feel like Saints Row the Third with superpower DLC. The nods to the past two games felt forced, and left me just wishing that I were playing one of the other games in the franchise instead of this one. While I've always liked this franchise as a bit of a guilty pleasure, this game just felt boring and disappointing. There comes a point where a developer gives the player too much power in a game, and this certainly passes past that point with super-speed.
