As a life long gears fan I am disappointed. High price tag, mediocre graphics and laggy gameplay for a re-re-released game. I am running a 4080 super and the graphics looked like plastic when set all the way up, and did not look like the pictures or how it did on the original remaster on my xbox one. I feel this was a bit of a cash grab to help develop Gears E-Day (which, prays be to the gaming gods, I am holding out hope for). But this is not worth $40. Maybe 55-60% off sale it would be worth a pick up.

Great gameplay, a battlepass system that doesn't rush you to completion, and all characters unlocked and FREE. What more could you ask for? Having genuine fun with friends at no cost :)

UPDATE 680 HOURS LATER: Still a great gane. Characters added frequently, new maps, new game modes. It is a good game!

A true successor to Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Plenty of characters, and a learning curve that isn't too much that it makes you want to suck start a kamehameha wave. I see plenty of my days being burnt on this game. Thank you Akira!

Early Access Review
Is the game still smite? Yes it is. Is it worth $30? Up to you, if you want to participate in an alpha. I loved Smite 1 but was burnt out of it. Smite 2 has the same fundamental game play but has redone how item building works, redid how god progression works, and redid the rank grind. Plus we get UE5. They dialed back the graphics due to complaints of how it was too realistic, but once you switch between smite 1 and 2 you can definitely see the graphic upgrade. If you're willing to deal with a few bugs and help the game grow, just like we did with smite 1 while it was in alpha and beta, I think you'll love it again.
