Svāgataṁ. The name's Val. Feel free to take a quick glance at these key points below concerning me in relation to gaming & some neighbouring topics:

• Allergic to low-poly and pixel graphics in modern releases

• Don't particularly care for most strategy games, MMOs, crafting-centric games, porn-type stuff, base builders, simulators, nostalgia-based genres, and games that are mostly derivative of other games, but in the majority of these cases, I may well make an exception if a given title is a highly unusual take on the category, and/or it has outstanding creative direction. Games I never have time for are overly open-ended ones. When a game can't tell me a story on its own terms, it isn't worth much at all to me!

• The fact that some of my favourite games happen to be pre-invasion Russian is not an indicator of my political position, which is staunchly anti-tsarist (certainly anti-Putin), and I'm proud to be Ukrainian

• As a cishet Caucasian male, am staunchly for gay & trans rights and against First World privilege, though do have problems with political correctness and cancel culture, and mixed thoughts on DEI as a virtue (as a conservative conspiracy theory it's pretty laughable for sure). If you think "Black Lives Matter" is wrong and should be countered with "All Lives Matter", then come back after you look up what tone policing is

• Mostly on a gaming break until they release OD

• Owner of a Switch 2, which I got exclusively to play Switch remakes/ports of older Nintendo releases

• The original Witcher game is (*coughs*) a little overrated, though that isn't because it's "too old" or "too lecherous". If the 2nd and 3rd entries are better in some ways (could be that's the case - I wouldn't know), I don't understand why I'm expected to have interest in any sequel to such a pedestrian RPG

• Personal favourite figures in the gaming world include Poki, Dybowski, Tom Heaton and - quite banally - Kojima
