Listen to the necktie. The necktie knows what's best for You, bratushka.

This is a great game.
You see, most roguelites and hack-and-slash games are... light on the story (usually by simple necessity of having Your characters die again and again and again). Hades... isn't. In this game, You play as Zagreus, son of Hades, who is trying... and failing to escape the realm of his emotionally abusive father, the titular Hades himself. Along the way, You meet many other characters - from Cerberus (the good boy!), to twin brothers Hypnos and Thanatos (they are nothing alike), to Your angry ex (she's one of the bosses!), to severed head of the Medusa (who is incredibly cute - yes, I know it sounds weird, but just trust me). While playing this game, You will die - again, and again, and You will meet these characters, again and again, while also forging stronger bonds with them. All in all, 5/5, would pet Cerberus again.

This game is free.

And its GREAT.

You SHOULD play it.

You NEED to play it. You don't know what You are missing in Your life. Also, it has puzzles, protagonist who traverses all the layers of hell through willpower, and demon girls in suits. You might think You don't need these things in Your life, but believe me, You do.

Did I mention it's FREE (because it is)?

it is a great game, in which You can beat giant mutated ticks, pirate captains, and stone golems to death while duel wielding a frying pan and a tentacle. What else do You want? My playtime should tell You everything You need to know.

This is a great game, however, caveat emptor - expeditions are CHALLENGING. Your companions will become cannibals or run away screaming into the night, leaving You to carry all the precious artefacts You "found" (looted) from the ancient temples. Your wounds will get infected. You will be mauled to death by tigers and even more dangerous animals. You will get thirsty, you will lose Your mind, and many more horrible things will happen to You again, and again, and again.

10/10, would get trapped by all-consuming lava again.

Ok, I admit, at first I was somewhat put off by the game's... interesting and unique art style, however, after almost 90 hours I must ademit - this is a great game. Hard and challenging, yet at the same time fair and rewarding. And yes, first playthroughs - before You unlock all cards and all relics - are going to be hard. And it's not gonna be easy afterwards. But if You enjoy roguelikes, card games, and deckbuilding, You should definitely try this game out.
Its great!

I know some might find the RNG a bit too much, but all in all, this is a great game. Of course, if what You are looking for is a power fantasy about smashing enemies until there's nothing left, I'd say stay clear from the Darkest Dungeon - heroes WILL die, go insane and get diseases, trinkets WILL get lost or stolen, and (at least at the beginning) You WILL be short on cash, and to be honest, everything else. However, if You play smart, use party composition to counter obstacles and understand when to fold, You'll be fine, and might even... save the world.
"You have answered the letter. Now, like me, You are a part of this place..."

Or, in other words, this game is hard, but rewarding, has a great visual style and active modding community.
