We really enjoy the new weapons—they add a lot of variety. The new items and abilities are also a blast, bringing so much personality to the gameplay. The aesthetics are great; they almost match the original style, with some reused skins, but still feel fresh. The enemies are mostly familiar, though a few have some new attacks. The new boss fights are fairly easy, especially if you’ve spent a lot of time in the base game, as most attacks are quite similar. The biggest challenge we faced was with the third boss. After beating the Trio, it felt like the run was essentially complete, even though we still had to get through an entire world and a final dimension that was almost identical to the previous one, just slightly ruined (which I didn’t love) and an upgraded final boss fight. The ultimate fight against the Architect was also disappointing; it just reused attacks from the first timeline with long breaks between each phase’s boss rooms.

Overall, it’s definitely worth the price if you enjoyed the base game, especially for co-op play. You only need one copy to play with friends, which makes it even better.

I didn't expect the mix between citybuilder and rougelike to work.... but it does.
run based upgrades mixt with perma upgrades hit just right spot.

40 hours deep and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.
