Rainbow Six Siege

Genre: First Person Tactical Shooter
Rating: 9/10
Personal playing period: 1 year +
Is it worth a buy: Yes, yes and yes. But wait for sale as full price is steep and there is no single player campaign. Please buy the complete edition or at the very least the standard. Do NOT BUY THE STARTER EDITON.
Girl vs Game: Multiple times I have picked the game. In my defense, it is an online shooter and I can't betray my team mates like that.:p

Personal Comment:

This is one of the best FPS games made in the recent years between the garbage COD and BF released. The only negative aspect is that there isn't really a single player campaign and this leaves you wanting more. Else this game would receive a solid 10 from me. The game is aimed at predominantly the online gaming community. So if you plan to get this game for the single player element then rather leave it alone. But this game is fun and makes you actually believe you are a spec ops soldier. The realism of this game is what makes it amazing. One shot and you are dead. So nice having a game where you don't unload a magazine on someone and they just go cower behind a crate and all healed up in a few seconds. Luckily this game has a destructible environment so good luck hiding behind stuff period.

Online gaming:
This game is made for online gaming and that is the main target audience. The online community is really good in my experience thus far and I havent had major issues. It is annoying when the servers are down but that is a Uplay problem and doesnt happen too often. This game is a tactical shooter and you have a few online gaming options. Terrorist hunt you team up with other human players and placed into various situations you need to resolve. These include protecting a hostage, extracting a hostage, classic terrorist hunt (Kill all enemies) and Deactivate bombs. Then secondly you have the multiplayer versus option where there are 2 teams of 5 humans and one team defends and the other attacks. There are quite a few maps available as well and multiple operators who provide various skills. So there is always something new to learn and to keep you interested. The online community is very active and also not a bunch of grannies in wet panties who get upset when you mess up and shouting noob like an idiot.

Short Summary:
This is a FPS online tactical shooter multiplayer game. There are multiple operators broken into two categories. Defense operators and Attack operators. There is approximately 40 operators in total and each operator has a unique skill or ability. The weaponry also varies between operators so it is imperative you pick one you play best with. I have 4 operators I am good with as this is a multiplayer game and sometimes your operator is picked by a team mate. Only one of each operator is allowed to be used by the team. This is a very strategic game and if you have a few friends who want to play you can really develop a team by each guy using the operator they are the best with and helping each other in this way. This game does have micro transactions but you can unlock nearly everything by just playing the game a LOT.

Learning Curve and Gameplay:
this is not an easy game. If you understand that you cant just run into a room and shoot the enemies then you'll be okay to start off with. It is also quite daunting to try and understand all the operators and what their skill offers you and the team. To master all the operators will be very difficult so pick a few you like and work on those. The entire environment is also destructible which means the enemy can literally attack you from any direction. Above you, beneath you and from any side even if you are standing next to a wall. The wall, floor and roof material also plays into how destructible the environment is. Some items can be completely penetrated and others only partly. So watch your six.

Batman - The Telltale Series

Genre: Story Rich Point and click
Rating: 6.5/10
Personal playing period: Time it took to finish the game. Couple of days. Total time 8 hours
Is it worth a buy: Maybe but wait for sale.
Girl vs Game: Definately the girl.

Personal Comment:
I am a major Batman fan as well as Telltale as the stories are usually really great. It is mostly played as an interactive movie and more for the storyline than for the gameplay which is really boring. But this story was just not good. And add that to the basic game mechanics of Telltale and this game is a bit of a failure in comparison to the other Telltale titles. Was great that the characters were from the comics but there were too many holes in the storyline too that made it non believable. I think if this game is on sale and you are a batman fan then get it. Else give it a pass.

Online gaming:
N.A.

Short Summary:
You play as Batman and Bruce Wayne in Gotham assisting Harvey Dent in running for Mayor. There is a new threat named the children of Arkham whose leader is the main protaganist in the story. You must investigate and try and figure out who the criminals are and who is behind the current threat to Gotham. As Bruce Wayne you also come under tremendous fire in this game and you need to balance between Batman and Bruce Wayne. There are some aspects where the story strays from the truth in the comics but not too far.

Learning Curve and Gameplay:
As per all Telltale games I reviewed it is as easy as kissing a fat drunk girl/dude and you're the only dude/girl there. The game is played in a 1st person / 3rd person perspective and is basically a point and click game. So it is extremely easy to play this game even if you are completely new to PC gaming. I am fairly certain your dog or cat could play this:p

Life is Strange

Genre: Story Rich Point and click
Rating: 9/10 *Unless you hate the Telltale type games and the play style. However this is better constructed than Telltale. More challenging with puzzles that test your brain a little.
Personal playing period: Time it took to finish the game. Couple of days.
Is it worth a buy: Yes. It is a fun game with a unique and cool story, amazing artwork and really great soundtrack.
Girl vs Game: Game is awesome but here I'd pick the girl even though you play as a girl. I'm confused;)

Personal Comment:
This is an amazing storyline which plays off as an interactive movie. The game play is very basic and simple to learn and implement. A controller will improve the game experience but I hate controllers so I used the mouse and keyboard and was perfect for me. This is a story rich game so there isnt any re-playability. But at the low price point and even lower if you wait for a sale this game is so worth it. The game keeps you hooked and you just keep wondering what is going to happen next. Please note, this is a story game and definatley not challenging or exciting. You basically playing a movie but you have some input into how it plays off. If you do not like story rich games stay away from this.

Online gaming:
N.A.

Short Summary:
You play as a 18 year old girl studying photography at an academic institution in her home town after returning from Seattle. She finds old friends and tries to rebuild relationships, help friends and fit in. She is an aspiring photographer who realises a special ability early in the game which forms the central theme of the game. The story is very original and interesting and has you hooked from the start. The artwork and everything that makes up this game is beautiful. The game keeps you wondering and thinking even after you finished it. The game is a bit short as I finished it in around 12 hours but it was a great 12 hours.

Learning Curve and Gameplay:
As per the Telltale type games I reviewed it is as easy as monopoly but definately more challenging than tell tale games in the aspect that there are actual puzzles that makes the game more challenging. The game is played in a 3rd person perspective and is basically a point and click game. So it is extremely easy to play this game even if you are completely new to PC gaming. I am fairly certain your dog or cat could play this while wearing a blindfold:p

GTA 5

Genre: Open World 3rd Person
Rating: 8.5/10
Personal playing period: 2+ years
Is it worth a buy: Yes. This game just offers a lot of bang for your buck.
Girl vs Game: This is quite a hard one. Id say the girl by a fraction and dependant where I am in the game. Mid mission definately the game:p.

Personal Comment:
This is an awesome game granted that you have a proper gaming rig to run it smoothly. It took me a while to set my graphics accordingly and now I obtain 60 frames per second with no issues. I have played GTA since the original top down games were released and have loved the franchise ever since and played each release. The depth this game offers is just endless and it is pure fun. Feel like shooting random people while soliciting a girl you can do that. Want to play legitimately you can do that. Whatever you want to do you can do. An interesting change they brought in is playing as 3 characters. Not sure I prefer that as you dont really connect with any of the characters as you keep jumping between them. Just get this game - If older than 18;)

Online gaming:
I jhave not put a lot of hours into online gaming but the hours I have were awesome. Especially when you have a few freinds who play the game as well. You guys can just go wreck havoc.

Short Summary:
This is a 3rd person open world game that provides endless fun. You play as three characters. One young up and coming gangster, a psycho criminal killer machine and a retired mobster getting back into the life of crime. You play the game through completing various missions as one or two or all three of these characters that you can cycle between as the game continues.

Learning Curve and Gameplay:
Very easy learning curve. Once you know the buttons it's pretty simple from there as you can do whatever you want.

Prison Architect

Genre: Strategy/Simulation - Real Time Strategy/Simulation
Rating: 9.5/10
Personal playing period: Few months
Is it worth a buy: Yes. Even at full price. This is a necessity for any strategy/sim players collection.
Girl vs Game: I think there may have been a few times that I did in fact pick the game.

Personal Comment:
This is really a great game with a lot of depth and immersion. I have 80 plus hours and still have not felt a need to play the campaign yet. This is that game where you say just 5 more minutes and then 3 hours later you have your girlfriend and the police knocking on your door thinking you died as you were supposed to pick her up for a date 2 hours ago. This is a great immersive game with a lot to do. It is so much fun trying to design the perfect prison. Just make sure you have a lot of time or just have no job or girlfriend;)

Short Summary:
This is a prison building simulation strategy game. You start off with some money and a few construction workers and a open piece of land. You then need to start planning and building a prison to house prisoners that will be dropped every 24 hours. You can set how many prisoners must be dropped, what danger level they can be, etc. You are in charge of building the prison, managing the money so you dont run out of it, managing the prisoners and ensuring that they get reformed and that they are kept happy and maintaing staff and cashflow on a day to day basis. If you like strategy/simulation games then get this.

Online gaming:
Have not played online but you can via steam workshop play other peoples prisons and also use escape mode to escape from prisons created by fellow gamers.

Learning Curve and Gameplay:
The learning curve to this game is quite intense. There is a lot that needs to be learned and understood. The utilities must be very well managed in order to ensure the prison does not run out of power and secondly to ensure the power stations and their lines don't cross. Then you have the whole physical construction and layout of the prison that you need to design and build. And then there is the management of the prison, the finances and so many more elements. The game just offers so much that you will spend endless hours on this without batting an eye. Fortunately there is an "unlimited funds"game mode which I would recommend to start off with till you have the game play nailed. Then start a prison with limited funds and then the fun starts as budgeting and finance planning is added to the list of things to do.

The Wolf Among Us

Genre: Story Rich Point and click
Rating: 8.5/10 *Unless you hate Telltale games and the play style.
Personal playing period: Time it took to finish the game. Couple of days.
Is it worth a buy: Yes. It is a fun game with a unique and cool story.
Girl vs Game: Game is awesome but here I'd pick the girl.

Personal Comment:
This is an amazing storyline based on fairytale characters we all grew up with knowing. But they are all based in modern day society in the bodies of human beings. Once agian it is a Telltale game so not really any re-playability. It is at a low price point so I would say it is definately worth it. It is quite cool to see how the fairytale characters get interpreted as normal humans. And you are always kept waiting in excitement to see which character will be shown next.

Online gaming:
N.A.

Short Summary:
The game takes place in the city and you play as detective Wolf. Yes, this is the dude that blew the three pigs homes down and ate the old grandma, and not in the way she'd have liked:p. The story is very unique and interesting and keeps you wondering what is going on. You are basically tasked to solve a gruesome murder mystery that happened. So you play as the Sherif and have to keep going around the city asking questions and trying to solve the crime. As you play along more and more characters from our favourite fables get shown as the investigation progresses.
All the fairytale characters we grew up with is in here such as The big bad wolf, Beauty and the beast, Snow White, etc. If you know anything about fairytales you should definately get this for your collection. The game is a bit short as I played it through in approximately 12 hours but it was still worth it. A very original storyline.

Game of Thrones - TellTale

Genre: Story Rich Point and click
Rating: 8/10 *Story is a 10/10 but gameplay is very basic hence only 8/10
Personal playing period: Since Release. +-1 year
Is it worth a buy: Yes. It is a fun game with a awesome story. A must for any GoT fan and the price isn't bad at all.
Girl vs Game: Game is awesome but here I'd pick the girl.

Personal Comment:
This is an amazing storyline but the gameplay is very basic. Had awesome fun playing the game but because it is TellTale it is a game you can only play through once. So like all TellTale games not a lot of re-playability. But considering the low price point I really don't mind. Get ready to have your jaw dropped, letting out gasps of air and randomly shouting out very bad words at shocking moments as per the standard GoT style. So make sure your mom and children arent close by while playing this.

Online gaming:
N.A.

Short Summary:
This game takes place in the world of Game of Thrones. You play as various characters from a newly introduced family, 'The Forresters" that is not part of the Television series. You play in all areas using the different characters such as Kings Landing, The Nights Watch, Winterfell, etc. Most of the characters from the TV show are in the game as well and this gives the game that real GoT feel. The scenery and setting of the game is really stunning and it feels that you are lost in the world of GoT. The game time is a bit short at approximately 2.5 hours per episode which ends up at approximately 15 hours of gameplay.

Learning Curve and Gameplay:
As easy as kissing a fat drunk girl/dude and you're the only dude/girl there. The game is played in a 1st person / 3rd person perspective and is basically a point and click game. So it is extremely easy to play this game even if you are completely new to PC gaming.

Age of Empires 3

Genre: Strategy - Real Time Strategy
Rating: 10/10
Personal playing period: 5+ years
Is it worth a buy: Yes. Even at full price. This is a necessity for any strategy players collection.
Girl vs Game: Unless it's some super model I'd definately rather play the Game.

Personal Comment:
This is an amazing game with endless amounts of game time. The hours on here isnt a fraction of my actual game time online and offline. Been playing this game since the day it was released and still play it and love it today. I even missed a couple of meals as well as toilet breaks playing this believe it or not. I have bladder and bowel control of a ninja thanks to AOE.

Online gaming:
The online gaming community is still very active and people of all skill levels are on it. You will find anywhere between 500 to 2000 people online at any given time. Beware though that even though AOE is helpful and awesome the online community are sometimes a bunch of cocktonsil nimrod supremists who think they're amazing whilst never having seen or felt a girl up close unless in a magazine. But if your skin is thick and you dont give a flying **** about other people you'll be fine.

Short Summary:
This is a real time strategy game that plays off in the medieval times. There are 8 standard civilizations, 3 native indian civilizations and 3 Asian civilizations. Each civ provides a different set of advantages and it takes time to learn how to utilise the various civs to their full capability. Learning each civilisation takes time and it is great fun doing that. There are countless amounts of maps that allow for the use of different strategies. The game also has a story rich single player campaign. I have not played the campaign yet but never felt the need to as the standard game modes offer more than enough fun and game time.
The game also has progressive improvement meaning the more you play the more items get unlocked and the stronger your civilisation becomes. This ensures that you want to play more and more in order to improve the strength of your favourite civilisation.

Learning Curve and Gameplay:
Easy to start but tough to master. The learning curve to start playing and learning the basics is very easy. Learning the various civilisations and their strengths is more challenging and may take a lot of practice and time. The gameplay is very simplistic in it being a basic RTS with click and place. Gathering of basic resources and using those resources are easy and self explanotary. A tutorial can be played to understand the basics but this game is very playable and a new player will get it after playing only for a few hours.
