Democracy has prevailed once again, as if there was any doubt!

The "SONY" class of automatons has been successfully repelled and exterminated, enjoy that well earned Liber-tea my fellow Helldivers! THE HARDEST MAJOR ORDER YET HAS BEEN COMPLETED!

For the first time in what seems like forever, corporate greed has failed and the community has prevailed!

For any future buyers, Sony attempted to force an unnecessary account linking step on PC players. This requirement was waved at launch due to the immense server overhead, but 3 months later Sony attempted to reinstate it. Sony has an extensive history with not handling customer data properly... Not to mention the 177 countries that couldn't make accounts (and therefore wouldn't be able to play the game they purchased) without using a VPN, which would've netted you a ban from Sony. Needless to say the community, who Arrowhead previously united after years of hyper toxic / competitive multiplayer games, were PISSED and review bombed the $H!T out of HD2. Sadly Arrowhead got caught in the cross fire, but after a few days of reviews going from "Very Positive" to "Overwhelmingly Negative", Sony gave in. Hopefully HD2 can recover the playerbase and positive reviews it previously had.

Great game, terrible publisher. Love you Arrowhead, love you Joel!! <3<3<3<3

Ok, so I've finally gotta try to give this game a review. Honestly I don't like reviewing games. Not that good games don't deserve the proper credit, but I always feel like one can never do a game like Horizon justice... But oh well here goes.

Horizon starts off like most other RPGs such as Skyrim or Oblivion, but with its own twist. You see the main character, Aloy as a baby who was shunned by her tribe for being motherless and banished to be raised by another who was also sentenced to Exile. Rost, who basically becomes Aloy's surrogate father, tries his best to raise her and teacher the ways of their tribe despite being banished.

After a time skip we see Aloy once more as a six-year-old child. After having a rock thrown at her head by the other children who were taught to ignore her. After running away, Aloy falls into an old ruin left behind by the Old Ones of the Metal world (Modern Humanity). Throughout the game we discover what happened to Modern civilization and why Humanity was reverted back to tribes and small cities. After wandering around in the ruins for a minute Aloy discovers a small device called a Focus, which allows her to interact with old technology and exploit it.

One small (and somewhat cringe) note about character design. I appreciate that the devs didn't needlessly give a female main character... well, exaggerated proportions. None of the armor sets are needlessly showy, with the only remotely revealing one being understandable because it's made for heat resistance. Just whatever you do, don't go to the mod nexus page for Horizon, you've been warned...lol

I won't spoil any more of the story, as this game really is best experienced with no knowledge of story. I knew absolutely nothing about Horizon going into it, and I just grabbed it because it was on sale. Man what a good idea that was!

As far as actual gameplay, the combat is smooth and not very repetitive, however some larger enemies do feel like bullet sponges (or arrow sponges as it were... lol). I mean what do you expect, you're fighting massive biomass consuming robots with a bow and arrow a spear. There's also a decent economy system that never left me feeling like items were too expensive. Basically right from the start of the game if you want to grind excessively in the first area you can buy a bunch of weapons and armor sets. As far as grind, it never felt needlessly long or complicated. Just the right balance between having items always accessible and actually having to look for some.

Weapons and armor in this game work differently than others, basically you have a base defense that new armor doesn't necessarily increase. Certain sets resist different environmental hazards more than others, but you can modify armors with special weaves for added protection. Basically the more expensive your weapon or armor is the more modification slots you have, or the variety of ammo you can fire. Also the more expensive armor sets typically are more visually complex.
As far as graphical complexity goes, Horizon is pretty standard for a AAA console game. When it was ported to PC the devs did the right thing and gave us all the graphical options that PC gamers are used to. I should also say that doesn't need a very powerful GPU to run, since Horizon was made for the PS4. I get a consistent 30 - 45 FPS at 800p on my steam deck on medium settings unless the game is loading new in, with around 45 - 60 FPS at 1080p on high with a GTX980 on my PC. It's no Doom Eternal as far as optimization goes, but there's certainly worse optimized games that cost more!

On the subject of cost, I would 100% pay the full $50 and enjoy the game, but I managed to grab it on sale for $17 with tax, now that's a fantastic deal!

In conclusion, Horizon Zero Dawn is a fantastic game and is well worth the $50 asking price. If you're patient you could grab it on sale, but don't feel the need to if you have some spare funds! The story is fantastic, the gameplay is awesome, and as far as AAA games go it doesn't even take up that much space. 11/10 would buy again!

Alright, so for a while now I've been meaning to review this game. I usually want to play at least 20 hours or so (or less depending on the game) of a game before I review it. I just got to chapter 3 in the story for whatever that's worth.

Firstly, I had basically zero idea what the story was like in RDR2. I had heard in 2019 that it was a fantastic game, but around then my PC was busy being a literal pile of e-waste. Like seriously, really the only somewhat graphically intensive game I could play was Halo 4. Recently however I managed to get my hands on some better hardware, so I've been grabbing some games that I always wanted to try out.

That being said, I can't express how much I am loving this game. The amount of little details that count towards realism are just insane. Your. Horse. Poops. I mean seriously, what team of devs would've spent time making that animation for your trusty steed, but they did. Anything from falling down a hill, talking to your fellow gang members, to even taking a sip of whiskey. The bottle doesn't immediately disappear, it just shatters on the ground or lays there, physics and all! The dynamic conversations your friends (and enemies!) can have have is really cool! Maybe I'm just used to repetitive dialogue and few canned animations, but there's just so many little things that count towards the most realism I've ever seen in a video game! The combat system is pretty good too, with the whole Dead Eye mechanic being seemingly pretty balanced while still making the player feel like they're really an old western cowboy with an itchy trigger finger. The player, horse, and weapon customization system is really quite fully featured too, bringing forth plenty of unique options for both you, your equipment, and your trusty steed. And all without a single real dollar spent outside of the main game cost. (No micro-transactions!) I paid $30 for RDR2, but it is easily still worth the full asking price for big fans of the genre. I myself probably wouldn't have considered paying full price for a game I knew nothing about, but I'm glad I grabbed it when I did!

I won't say anything about the story, but from what I've seen so far Arthur Morgan is a troubled man. Unsure whether to accept the fact that him and his fellow gang members are just common murders and thieves, or perhaps aspire to be something better. I have yet to try the multiplayer, but I think I'll give it a shot at some point. I heard talk about being able to become a moonshiner, that's actually something that has always fascinated me.

Now all that being said, this game does demand quite a decent computer to run at it's fullest potential. My i7 4790k and GTX 980 combo does struggle at times, however they usually do maintain a constant 30-45 FPS almost never dipping below that unless I've got something else intensive running in the background. Even on the first balanced preset in the graphics settings upon turning on the cinematic camera in scenes that allow it, at times I find myself thinking that this is a scene from an old western movie rather than an interactive story being rendered in real time!

Before RDR2 I had never played this type of RPG / 3rd person shooter combo thing. Boy am I glad I gave it a shot. This game is now up there with my favorites! 11/10 buy it now!

What's not to like about classic Doom? I mean how could you give this game a negative review, it's literally just Doom.

The updated graphics and steam achievements are a nice touch, but just know the included versions of Doom 1 and 2 are downgrades from the ones you can buy separately on the store. All the gameplay is still there, but you don't get any multiplayer or in-game cheats. I have both the Doom 3: BFG Editoin and the standalone versions of Doom 1 and 2.

11/10 would violently eviscerate pixelated demons again.

Well maybe some folks don't like the Bethesda account stuff, and I mean that's fair. I don't mind it, and the ingame cheats are really fun for just screwing around.

How does one not like what Doom eternal has to offer, especially if you get it on sale!

I 100% completed this game on console. A first for any game I have ever played, I will be doing the same on PC eventually.

You get access to classic Doom 1 and 2 for getting 100% completion, something a lot of games should take notes on is rewarding players for their dedication!

It also runs great at 1080p High on my GTX 980, this quite possibly is the best optimized game of all time since they managed to get it running on the Switch too! Just make sure you've got a decent bit of VRAM, 4GB is the minimum for good details.

11/10 would violently eviscerate demons again.
