Frostpunk is a steampunk, post-apocalyptic, on-the-tundra survival colony building sim. The level of detail included in the colonists, the building, and the immersion is amazing. You can watch your colonists interact, build, trudge through the snow, or you can ignore it all and concentrate on the big picture only. The level of challenge is high, the soundtrack is pensive, and the storytelling is good, creating a unique experience for each person.

I have played this game (as my financial situation allows) ever since the game launched, way before it became available on Steam. It does play a bit more like a single player game until end-game raids, with the exception of hard mode flashpoints and pvp. The experience itself is worth having and the different class storylines worth exploring for anyone who enjoys a good rpg and/or the universe of Star Wars. I love the voice acting and ambient starship sounds in the game, as well as the space combat, though it is rather less popular than pvp.

Update: 5 years later - This game is still a great time sink. I love my characters and feel invested in them. The development team obviously love and are passionate about this game to this day. New content is released regularly, making it worth picking up an old beloved character you haven't seen for awhile.

Dragon Age is an epic series in a world with tons of history, culture, and lore behind it. Though the combat is a bit clunky in this game, it's worth taking the time to get used to it. I have personally played through this game on multiple platforms multiple times and still find something new to discover in each subsequent playthrough. Anyone who loves a good story and characters with depth will enjoy playing this.

This is a sci-fi colony building game with a great aesthetic. There is some voice acting in each campaign, probably intended to make you feel a greater connection to the colony you're building. It's more challenging than it would seem at first, so don't expect this game to be a cake walk, but I found myself enjoying the challenge and looking forward to increasing my proficiency with managing all the aspects of each colony. The visuals are absolutely WONDERFUL, and I'm consistently finding myself lost in the water ripples or admiring the wildlife. It's actually possible to look into the mouths of caves or under a waterfall, so there's always something new and interesting to see. There is a learning curve, and the game requires a measure of patience, but I've found this game to be totally worth the extra time.

Graveyard Keeper was a curiosity purchase for me. The trailer made it look interesting and I was just coming off a long stint of playing Stardew Valley, so I wanted something a little... darker. This game fit the bill with its dark humor, somber music, and wide variety of activities. To be honest, I felt a little lost at first, but then I realized there was no timeline for completing anything. So, I started to enjoy my little chats with the clueless residents, the snarky comments of my skull friend, and the roll-my-eyes-at-the-bishop moments. Now if I could only master fishing...

I purchased this game when it was on sale, intrigued because I like point-and-click adventure games if they have a good story behind them. Even expecting a good story-driven puzzle adventure, I was quite surprised by the depth of the universe the characters inhabit. I do feel that most of the characters, overall, were rather shallow, and the developers would have been well served to have more outlets for backstory and world lore. I could see how much love and care was put into crafting the world and the story, however. I enjoyed the sound sensations throughout the game, in the music, voiceovers, and sound effects. I would genuinely like to see this game expanded into a full-blown rpg. As it is, however, I still highly recommend playing it through at least once. It's quite amusing and made me wish for more story.

I purchased this game on sale, and I'm happy I did. I'm even happier that it was cheap. It's a cute game, appealing visually. I had some trouble because the translations were not great, with grammar errors throughout and odd sentences that didn't quite make sense, though the basic idea of each scene did get through. The soundtrack was pretty limited, though charming in its own way. Each love interest had his own storyline (after a certain point in the gameplay), complete with their own minigames and structures. I did find the endings to be rather unsatisfyingly quick and incomplete, and the love story for all but Henry Yin quite shallow, but I would recommend it as a story to play when you want something simple and light-hearted.

I picked this up because I love hidden object games and it was a reasonable price. Like most such games, the story was a bit more simplistic than I usually prefer. Nevertheless, the artwork was engaging and the puzzles amusing enough to provide a good distraction. I did have some technical issues, such as my computer freezing up when I tried to access the Steam Overlay (I was playing in fullscreen), but since I didn't lose any progress when I restarted and relaunched, it wasn't really a huge issue. Overall, if you like hidden object games and the supernatural, this game is worth spending a few bucks and a few hours on.

This is a visual novel, but it doesn't offer the variety I'm used to in such games. The option to choose your own name doesn't exist, the characters are very one-dimensional with only one graphic for each, the mini-game is completely and totally pointless, and the length of time this game encompasses does not allow for any real feeling of connection with either the story or the characters. On the plus side, the art style is good and the soundtrack is soothing. For a short game at a low price, it's not a bad investment, but don't buy this one if you want something to touch you or make you feel you've experienced something romantic.

This game is actually pretty fun, especially if you're already a fan of the Fallout series. It has potential for those who enjoy base-building and management-style games, as well as side quests thrown in for a *tiny* bit of story here and there. There is no overarching story, however, so don't expect there to be anything beyond a surface attachment to the characters. The downsides of Fallout Shelter are that it takes a great deal of time to accomplish anything big, and the quests timers seem to be pretty extreme. These things make it pretty clear that the developers were intentionally coming up with ways to make a little quick cash on the side, offering goods for real money to speed the processes up. Still, for a free to play game and a way to kill time when you're bored and want something "different" to play, this is a good game to try. I definitely recommend giving it a shot, especially since you get to poke the Mysterious Stranger with your mouse from time to time.
