"A Beautiful and Immersive Game, but Progression Frustrates"

I've been playing Brighter Shores for the past couple of days and have to say it's one of the most relaxing and enjoyable games I've come across. The game has a peaceful, immersive vibe, with well-designed quests that make the world feel alive. I especially loved the map design—it’s brilliant how everything upgrades as you level up in the same area. For instance, when you level up in fishing, the types of fish available also level up, adding a dynamic feel to the environment. If you need to catch earlier-level fish, you can easily select them to appear, which adds depth and encourages you to revisit areas rather than simply moving on.

I’ve leveled most of my professions up to 30 and really appreciated this progression system, but I hit a wall after moving to the next episode. Unfortunately, all my hard-earned progress—gear, stats, and professions—reset, and the profession names even changed (like “Foraging” to “Gathering”). Starting from scratch, with my stats reset and weaker than before, took away the sense of growth I had put hours into building. This progression reset felt like a step backward, making it feel almost like starting a new game rather than advancing.

I've seen other players express similar concerns, and it's disappointing that the developers seem to have doubled down on this approach in the latest update. While Brighter Shores has an amazing aesthetic and an enjoyable world, the reset progression made me feel like all my grind had little long-term value, which is discouraging.

If you’re looking for a relaxing game and unique questing, I’d still recommend Brighter Shores. But keep in mind that progression changes after the first episode, which may be a dealbreaker if you prefer a steady progression of power and skill.
