I got this game on a whim while hungover, no regrets. 9/10

You already know this game is fantastic and since its ♥♥♥♥ has been sucked so many times, I am here to kiss the tip a bit and then bite down on it, here we go.
I'll keep this brief, the story is good but worse by quite a bit compared to 3 and 4's stories, the characters are good (Not you Makoto, ♥♥♥♥ you), and some of the Villains are good (Maruki, Akechi and Madarame) some are uhhh not so good (Yaldabadadingdong, Okumura and for legal reasons, I can't say his name) and some are forgettable, but they are still miles ahead of 3's, the combat is great
the overall gameplay is fantastic, the art direction is in my top 3 OAT, the music is phenomenal, the dungeons are great, the social links are good, and I'll stop here because you probably already know how good this game is, time to bite down.
♥♥♥♥ you, Morgana, Mementos is just Tartarus 2.0, the story tried to incorporate a "7 deadly sins" theme but failed so badly its funny, the pacing is god-awful in the Okumura palace, thank god it picks up again in Royal, speaking of Royal, I'm so glad that Royal expanded a bit on Akechi because if it had not, he would have been one of my least liked villains in the persona franchise as a whole, even then, how the ♥♥♥♥ are Haru and Futaba ok with teaming up with the little ♥♥♥♥ that killed their father and mother? Sae was underutilised and should have had a social link (I still like her better than Midkoto, fight me), the characters are downright moronic sometimes (Ryuji gets beaten up for saving their lives because funnyyy hahahahah), the game's writing goes to ♥♥♥♥ 2/3's into the game but it gets redeemed a bit in Royal and did I mention I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate Morgana?


Even though I just shat all over this game, it's still one of my favourite games ever, flaws and all. 9/10

I'll start this off by saying that when I bought this game during the Halloween sale last year, I thought to myself: "There is no way that this will be better than the original, but it's still Resident Evil 4 so it has to be at least decent". What I did not expect at the time was the fact that this game would not only become my favorite Resident Evil game, but one of my Favourite games EVER. RE4R manages to capture the charm of the original and improve upon it, the horror is better, the gameplay is straight up orgasmic and the characters still feel like their original selves, but with a modern coat of paint. The biggest improvements in the character department were by FAR Luis and Ashley. I liked Luis in the original but he was in too little of the game for me to really care about him, and Ashley in the original was just straight up annoying. The Remake gives Luis way more screen time and makes him a really compelling character, and this time around, Ashley is not only an enjoyable character, but she is actually funny and she has good chemistry with Leon. The Villains became even better, especially Krauser, that tiger belly splitting freak, his constant back and forward bickering with Leon was great and his boss fight is the best one in the game. One character that I think was slightly worse in the Remake was Salazar, but his awesome boss fight makes up for it. RE4R also somehow manages to improve the pacing of an already extremely well paced game by cutting some sections that were in the original, and inserting them in the Ada dlc. The new voice actors are great, including Ada, even if she was given some strange direction (the DLC fixes this, and the new VA is great in it). Time to talk about the man himself, Leon S. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Kennedy. I know that a lot of people prefer the original RE4 Leon, but I can't say the same. While the original Leon was funnier, I think it was a bit too much and the cheese was just too big sometimes, this new version of the character strikes a perfect balance between action hero badass and goofy socially awkward dude.

In my opinion, Resident Evil 4 Remake manages to obtain the ultimate balance between action and horror, while also having the best pacing in the whole RE series. 10/10
