Wraith King - Countless years Ostaryon built his kingdom upon the remains of his enemies. It was an obsessive habit by which the monarch whiled away his eternal, seemingly unending reign. He believed he would live forever so long as the towers of his palace continued to rise skyward. But in time he realized he was mistaken… that even bones would one day turn to dust.

Distrusting flesh, he sought a more reliable means to prolong his rule, and at last reached a conclusion: he required the energy of ghosts—a form of pure spirit released by certain dark souls at the moment of death. Ostaryon hoped to imbue himself with this spectral essence and thus attain a visage as clear and everlasting as his own vanity.

On the Night of Ghosts, the solstice at the boundary of the ages, he immersed himself in the ritual of transformation and commanded his subjects to gather enough souls to grant him the immortality he desired. No one knows how many of his servants fell that night, for the only survivor deemed worthy of note was the king himself, reborn with the next sunrise.

From that day forth, he no longer sits upon a throne, but strides across the battlefield with naked blade in hand, demanding loyalty not only unto death, but beyond it.
