Li Wei was born in 1920 in a poor village in Hunan, China. Growing up under the thumb of oppressive warlords and constant poverty, he was drawn to the Chinese Communist Party's promise of equality and land reform. He joined the CCP at 18, committed to fighting for a better life for peasants like himself.

Despite the hardships of the Long March and the battles he fought in the Civil War, Li Wei remained humble and dedicated. He rose through the ranks but never sought power, choosing instead to stay in his village, where he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of the poor.

Li Wei’s humor was as sharp as his commitment, often joking that the rich landowners looked at him and his fellow peasants like "ants under their feet." But he didn’t mind—he knew those same landowners were now on the wrong side of history.

He lived a simple life, always putting others first, and though he grew frustrated with the party's later corruption, he stayed true to his ideals. Li Wei passed away in 1985, remembered as a humble, hardworking man who lived for his people.
