MailPoet Sending Service

The MailPoet Sending Service is free if you only have a few subscribers, with scaling plans available thereafter. Read more.

Sending emails and newsletters with your host is not a good idea. You might face sending speed limitations and see your emails ending up in the spam box.

To help your sending go without a hitch, we’ve created an advanced email delivery infrastructure built for WordPress. Our technology allows you to:

  • Reach inboxes, not spam boxes
  • Send your emails super fast (up to 50,000 emails per hour)
  • Maintain your sender reputation and improve engagement levels with automated bounce and complaint handling. Stop sending to non-deliverable and complaining addresses, automatically
  • Authenticate your emails (with SPF and DKIM) to improve deliverability and avoid spam boxes.

The MailPoet Sending Service is very easy to set up, you just have to enter a key in your WordPress dashboard and you’re all set!

FAQ

Does MailPoet store the data of the user’s subscribers?

We do not store or keep any data from your subscribers. However, if you’re sending with us, we do process all the emails to be sent. It means MailPoet only logs email addresses to ensure that our service runs effectively. We do not track anything else.

What is the MailPoet Sending Service?

The MailPoet Sending Service is built exclusively to send WordPress and WooCommerce emails. Our in-house technology provides unparalleled speed (over 50,000 emails per hour) and performance, 99% uptime, and zero loss.

Which sending methods can I use to send my newsletters?

You have the liberty to choose how you send your emails: your own host (default, but not recommended), the MailPoet Sending Service, SendGrid, Amazon SES, or most SMTP providers including MailGun, etc.

Why should I use the MailPoet Sending Service?

Our global deliverability rate is 98.5%, often exceeding industry standards. We monitor each and every one of the millions of emails that we send for our users.

Whether you send 10 or 100,000 emails a day, the MailPoet Sending Service routinely handles small business newsletters through to huge mailing lists with tens of thousands of subscribers.

We highly encourage not to send with your host, here’s why.

If you’re just starting with your newsletter, we offer a free plan to get you started.

Can I filter specific categories out of my post notification?

Yes! In MailPoet you can set either categories or tags to include/exclude. This allows you to only send posts from specific categories or tags, ensuring that non-relevant posts stay out of your emails. You can also set up multiple post notification emails to better target your subscribers’ interests.

Is MailPoet GDPR compliant?

Yes, we are GDPR compliant. We do not have a Data Processing Agreement though. Our privacy notice can act as an agreement and GDPR takes this into consideration. By using our service, you acknowledge our Privacy Notice.

We suggest that you also add a link to our Privacy Notice in your own Privacy Notice page. What’s important is to make sure that your subscribers are aware that MailPoet delivers your email, if you send with MailPoet that is.

You can also read our Guide to Conform to GDPR.

WooCommerce: can my customers subscribe to my newsletter at checkout?

Yes, with MailPoet your customers can subscribe at checkout to your mailing list. You will even be able to send them abandoned cart reminder if they forgot to complete their purchase.

Is it MailPoet or Mail poet?

It’s MailPoet, not mail poet. We’ll answer to either though!

Reviews

I have used MailChimp for years and before that Constant Contact. MailPoet is significantly cheaper than both of those, and may be a good fit for you that will save you money. But it is not at those level of professionalism as those services, so be careful before you switch. I am using it, and have canceled MailChimp, however it is frustrating to use and it is more limited. I want to tell you here some things you may not have thought of and which are hard to know until you use MailPoet for a while:1) The biggest difference is the support. MailPoet doesn’t really offer support. Technically you can email their team, but responses (yes for PAID accounts) can take many days and as is often the case with email support, it takes multiple emails to just get them to understand your issue correctly. You will not get same day support. You will not get support on weekends, period. And their support is not that great when they reply. In short: If you are confident in yourself and your IT abilities regarding email and learning new systems, have at it. But if you need hand holding, skip MailPoet. Just skip it. 2) They have a very frustrating onboarding AND upgrading policy. When you onboard, once you get everything set up and import your first “List” (also called “Audience” in other services) you will get a message that they have to review your list and account before you can send emails. This can take days. So know that once you get signed up, you will still need days before approval, and remember, nothing happens on weekends as well. Now you might say that is no big deal, but this also happens when you UPGRADE! They do not tell you this, but it is true. So let’s say you add some subscribers, say from an event you do on a Saturday, and it takes you over your current limit. You will need to upgrade to a higher tier. Normal stuff, all of these services price this way (for the most part). BUT, when you upgrade to a higher level MailPoet requires that you go through the approval again! We added new subscribers on a Saturday, had to upgrade. Guess what? After upgrading we were locked out of sending new emails until approved, so all weekend. We wanted to thank people THAT DAY, but had to wait until Tuesday. This kind of stuff is not really acceptable to professional organizations, especially as it is not documented when you upgrade, but honestly even if it was. Be prepared for these surprises AND that you will not be able to contact anyone and get them fixed. If you are used to real customer service, you will not get it here and you will be frustrated. If you can deal with it, you will save money. But if not, don’t switch. 3) Unprofessional and confounding quirks. There are numerous of these. Let me give you one example: You can not name your EMAILS (called CAMPAIGNS in MailChimp). Emails you send out are named by the SUBJECT of the email, you cannot give them a custom name. How is this a problem? Say you use segments to send nearly identical emails to 3 different groups. For example segment one is getting a coupon for 10% off, segment two 20% off and segment 3 for 30% off. So the email is exactly the same except for the text about the amount and the coupon code. In a “normal” service you might name these something like “Winter sale 10 off”, “Winter sale 20 off”, “Winter sale 30 off”. All with the same email subject “Big savings in this email. Time is limited, shop now!” and almost the same content. So when you look at your list of emails to send you will see your three versions. Well in MailPoet you cannot do that. You will have to modify the SUBJECT of each email so they are different and they will be listed by subject. This can really be annoying and difficult if you do a lot of segmentation with nearly identical emails. And frankly it makes no sense. There is no reason MailPoet cannot easily allow you to name your emails for internal reference. It’s just dumb. And there are numerous things like this that you will encounter where you will say to yourself “Wait, this cannot be right…. I must be able to do XYZ.” But no. Be prepared for this. 4) AI chatbot. Yes, everyone uses these annoying ChatBots for support and as gatekeepers to their support staff nowadays, and we all hate it. MailPoet takes it a step further though. Their ChatBot will give you literally incorrect information. It will tell you things that are completely wrong. It will say you can do things that cannot be done. It will give solutions that mention fields or flows that do not exist. It is not just unhelpful, it is incorrect. Of course you can use ChatGPT or GEMINI or whatever service to ask support questions instead, and I suggest you do. I use ChatGPT and it works very well on MailPoet questions. But stupefyingly MailPoet’s own support AI does not. Also, this may give you some idea of how poor the support experience is with MailPoet. Summary: If you can live without support, or very slow (days, perhaps weeks) support, OK. If you can deal with UI quirks that often make little sense. If you are ok doing workarounds in Segmentation or do not use segmentation. If you know what you are doing technically, at least fairly well. If you are either not spoiled by the support of more expensive services, or truly willing to live with substantially lower levels of support in exchange for substantially lower prices…… if all of this? Then “Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it”. Or at least, you will save money. Also, if you use WordPress for your site, the integration as this is a WordPress plugin is very helpful and makes a number of workflows simpler and faster. I have not commented on this as it is well documented in their marketing, and in other comments etc. As I said at the beginning, I am sticking with MailPoet despite the annoyances. But know what you are getting into! Best of luck 🙂

Really useless support. They waste your time, they dont have solutions, they are slow, and all you get is canned response. It becomes a problem when the service is down and missing basics. The editor is really slow and limited to work with. Simply outdated and lacks basic functionality as expected in 2025. Previous : Mailpoet has been promising automation of different kinds for more than a year and nothing has happened. Marketing still promising the features, but when downloading, it has been saying “coming soon” for more than a year, and still does.Still has a lot to wish for regarding automation. It seems like an unfinished project.

Good for very basic email with no frills. However, MailPoet does not support HTML or CSS or custom fonts. If you send an email to customer support, you get an AI response, not a human response. From the AI response:”Custom HTML and CSS cannot be directly added to newsletters using the MailPoet email editor. This limitation exists across all MailPoet plans (free and paid) and is by design to ensure maximum compatibility across different email clients. When you paste HTML or CSS code into the editor, it gets automatically stripped out during the rendering process.”If you need special formatting or fonts, their solution is to make an image with your text and include the image in your email. From the AI response:”If you need to use a special font not included in the list, simply use an image, like this one:[image showing custom font]However, note that most email clients don’t display images by default and spam filters dislike emails that have too many images and not enough text.” They do have a monospace font available, so if you have tabular data, you can use lots of spaces to make your table columns line up like we did back in the typewriter days. After I typed that, I checked. It turns out that no, you can’t do that. It strips out more than one consecutive space. So putting things in your newsletter like the hours you’re open isn’t going to work. We have a large elderly population in our newsletter recipient list and we make our website and other materials compatible with screen readers and other assistive technologies. MailPoet strips all that out. We invested a lot of time trying out MailPoet and thought we found a great product. It’s too bad we didn’t. However, if you use Notepad, vi, or other basic text editor for all of your organization’s communications instead of a modern word processor, MailPoet might be for you.
