• Hi, my page isn’t live yet. I have just installed Tableberg and tried to insert a table using the block editor. I am getting an error message in the page saying “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.” If I actually preview the page (i.e., look to see what it will look like when published) I can see the empty table I created. But I can’t see it on the draft page in order to edit it to put content in.

I am using WordPress 6.7.2, Chrome browser, and Mac OS Sequoia 15.3.2.

    Thank you.

Hi, can you please share the output of your JS console? There should be an error there if you’re seeing the message: “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed”. Let me know if you need help accessing the JS console.

    Hi Zahin,

Once I’d googled what a JS console was …

    Thanks.

It looks like the error is coming from a file wpcom.editor.min.js. I’m having a hard time figuring out where this file is used. Could you please try the following:

    • Temporarily disable all other plugins and see if that fixes the issue? If it does, then please enable the plugins one by one to see which plugin causes the error. Share the plugin name with us here.
    • What other plugins are you using?
    • What other blocks are you using in the post?
    • If you insert a tableberg table in an empty post, does the error still occur?

Quick question: does it matter this is a page and not a post? I’m assuming the syntax will be the same but thought I’d better check.

The error IS reproduced on a blank page and on a blank post. Will try the plug-ins.

It should be the same on a page and a post. Please try disabling plugins, I think that’s the best way to diagnose the issue.

I deactivated all plugs-ins except Tableberg but the error still reproduced.

Sorry about the delayed response. Do you immediately get this message when you insert the tableberg block? If so, please share with us all details you can about your hosting setup e.g. WP, PHP, and MySQL version, server software (apache, nginx, litespeed etc.) and other relevant information.

I’ve tried to create a brand new wordpress site, install and insert tableberg block. It works fine there. Since you’ve tried disabling all plugins, I suspect there might be some issue with your setup and we want to get to the bottom of this. Thank you for cooperating with us.

Thanks Zahin and apologies for the delayed response also. This is now getting way past my skills level (remember I had to google what a JS console was). I’m mostly a front-end set up person with a bit of html/css. I have something functional from the standard WP table option, albeit not perfect, so at this point I think I’ll just uninstall tableberg. If someone were available for a live help session, that’d be brilliant but I completely understand if this is an ask too much.
