If I select another theme does it format itself?
NO, if you switch to a different theme, your changes to Astra will not.
If you have a question about Astra theme, I recommend asking at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/astra/#new-post so its developers and support community can help you with this.

Thank you for your response.
I have tried posting on Astra page but the ‘help’ I get is not worth having – and very slow at that. I guess I should have purchased the pro version, or better still a different theme altogether.
So to change theme I have to start again from scratch – is that correct or am I misunderstanding you?
Can you recommend a simple theme that I could use? I don’t need bells and whistles and I certainly don’t need AI…

You have many quality multipurpose themes with many starter templates, you should check them out and see which one suits you the best, I know that people often say that OceanWP theme gives the most features in their free version, compared to all other similar themes, so maybe you can check them out first.

I have managed to resolve the menu issue after much trial and error – mostly error!
