I have always used classic editor with PageBuilder. Now I have decided to use blocks since classic editor now has a limited lifespan. I uploaded the plugin ‘convert to blocks’ thinking I would just see the normal pagebuilder rows and columns in the back end, and then blocks inside of those fields.
However, the block I see is just one block of code in the back end in custom html mode.
What is the process to preserve the pagebuilder layout?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Yes, but the layout is not broken initially. I can see it just fine at this point but I have to do a save in block mode, to get out of the page and to turn classic editor back on. Because this has gotten confusing. Let me do that step again and I will update at that point as to what I am seeing.

The layout can be displayed normally on the site front-end and already be broken in Page Builder with the data necessary to edit the layout stripped out.

OK. I have redone the process and saved the page once the json file was in place. Then I left the page and turned on classic editor. If I go to page list now do I opt to edit in classic or block?

If the layout is broken the page must be restored using the revisions system to a point prior to the auto-migration attempt.

The page is not broken. Just need the answer to the previous post.

We have to do this one step at a time now.

If the layout was broken in the SiteOrigin Layout Block in the Block Editor, it can’t be restored by migrating the same data back to the Classic Editor, the revisions system must be used. To answer your question, the Classic Editor, the page was built in the Classic Editor; you’re extracting the layout from the originating editor and migrating it to the new editor.

It wasn’t broken…… As I said we are doing a fresh page. Nothing has been broken YET. At this point when I look at the page that has just been set up from the old page to the new page using the json file ….all is well.

If I look at it in block mode it’s actually just fine.

If I look at it in classic view, it’s all in one column of course because I haven’t done the convert to page builder step.

Thanks for the update; it’s challenging to follow exactly where you are.

Please, send me a screenshot of the following:

You can upload screenshots anywhere public and share the link.

So do I work with it in block mode at this point? This exercise is to convert the site to blocks but still use Page builder IN blocks.

Alternatively, if you’re making progress and don’t need help at the moment then no screenshot is necessary. Apologies for the vague feedback and not quite following along.

OK. I expect this is getting crazy on your end. Stand by.

Sure, that’s up to you. You can use the SiteOrigin Layout Block, SiteOrigin Widget Blocks, blocks from other plugins, and default blocks.

The page that we’re working on looks like this on the front end. The images are not part of a page, but is a feature that comes with the template, so just focus on the text portion below that. My site isn’t too complicated that is why I am using it for this test.
