I was wondering if it’s possible to customize the current menu item in this theme? I would simply like to add an underline to the currently active menu in the navigation to help the user know which page he/she is on.

Are you using the standard navigation block for this? Can you share a screenshot where the navigation block is selected, and the list view on the left side shows it in there?
Could it be that I converted this theme into a child theme in order to keep it safe from updates? I recently asked on another thread on how I could stack my gallery images on my blog page and the CSS code I was provided did work so…rather confusing why the code you provided doesn’t.
I created a header template and added it to every page in order to rule out any issues with the navigation and for some reason the code now works under one menu item only (Drone).
