Hi, @rotarypower2020.
Your issue is described here:
https://github.com/jvoisin/snuffleupagus/issues/323
So if I’m understanding “snuffleupagus” is trying to deactivate some plugin functions. Please contact the developer and ask him how it’s possible to run a “include” function.
Hi,
I reinstalled WordPress, everything is clean.
After installing your plugin
I get this error still
There has been a critical error on this website.
What I want to say is that the plugin worked before, and I dont know why this happen suddenly.
Hope you can give me some tips, tried so many now, i have no clue now
Hi, @rotarypower2020.
But I didn’t say to reinstall WordPress. I said you to read
https://github.com/jvoisin/snuffleupagus/issues/323
So let’s start from beginning…
Please answer my questions:
1) Do you understand what snuffleupagus is?
2) Do you understand what snuffleupagus is doing?
3) Why are you using snuffleupagus?
4) Is it possible to configure snuffleupagus to don’t block the “include” PHP function? https://www.php.net/manual/en/function.include.php
Hi, thanks for your answer.
I read it but I dont understand what to do now.
1 – No
2 – No
3 – I dont know, i just want to use your plugin …
I dont understand why it was working all time and now not.
I am sitting since yesterday to try to fix it..
Thanks for the answers.
This is what its documentation says:
Snuffleupagus is a PHP 7+ module designed to drastically raise the cost of attacks against websites, by killing entire bug classes
So you can understand the error
Error message: [snuffleupagus][disabled_function] Aborted execution on call of the function βincludeβ
as snuffleupagus blocked the PHP function used by Featured Image from URL plugin.
So please contact your hostage service and ask if it’s possible to deactivate Snuffleupagus. Let me know. By the way, I never saw a WordPress site with that before. And this issue was never reported before.
Its weird, i didnt change anything on site – i installed a cache plugin and the plugin from SiteGround Security (which isnt working if you are not on a Siteground server), and since then the problems began.
A reinstall of WordPress also doesnt help.
Something is responsible for Snuffleupagus on your environment. And it’s not FIFU. And maybe it’s not another WordPress plugin. Please contact Siteground support and let me know the answer.
I don’t even know if the cache plugin or SG plugin are to blame or it was just a coincidence.
It’s exactly for this reason you should contact the hostage support. They have access to your site. I don’t.
Hi,
I installed now previous version of wordpress and there was no error message when i install your plugin.
Then i updated to 5.6 and I get again error:
There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.
But it worked with 5.6 version before..
Hi, @rotarypower2020.
The plugin is developed using the version 5.6. So it shouldn’t be a problem.
Could you attach the debug.log?
I will do it, doing now a restore and then a downgrade. Do you need access or something like that?
Do you need access or something like that?
This public forum has serious rules about it. I can’t access your site, otherwise I will be punished.
Just copy and paste the content of debug.log here.
Is there a way to get the images back? I used a backup but it shows a red X – so the link from imgur are removed
Hello,
I’m the developer of Snuffleupagus, and it’s indeed working as intended: the default ruleset prevents inclusion for files that aren’t ending with .php, and featured-image-from-url is trying to include a .html file, in the file admin/menu.php, line 125, as indicated by the message.
