I’m using the free version of strong testimonials Version 3.2.9 and it’s broken inside the admin

and something is wrong with the plugin.

    here is what happens:

Inside the admin when I click on the “Strong Testimonials” button on the left

I get taken to this error page with the message:

“There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”

So I cannot add any new testimonials inside the admin.

The outside of the site is fine and the testimonials are displaying well. It’s just inside the admin that is broken. I asked my host if they could help, but they confirmed the problem is with the plugin.

Thanks so much for helping. I’m guessing since I saw that the pro version had the problem, it’s was a fix that was needed on your end.

Also, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your plugin!!

    Thanks again,

    Christina

  • Hello @christinahills,

Thanks for reaching out! We’ve tried to reproduce the issue on our end using the version 3.2.9, but we weren’t able to replicate the problem.

To help us investigate further, could you please share the error log? If you’re not comfortable posting it here publicly, feel free to send it to us via our contact form instead.

To enable WordPress debug logging, please follow these steps:
    1. Open your wp-config.php file.
    2. Add or update the following lines:
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG_LOG’, true );
    define( ‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, false ); // optional
Once added, WordPress will start logging errors to a file called debug.log located in the /wp-content/ directory.

We appreciate your help in resolving this issue!

    Warm regards,

    Cristina

I’m hoping that this is enough information for you as I Got a “Your Site is Experiencing a technical issue” email with the errors.

    Here it is:

"WordPress has a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Strong Testimonials.

First, visit your website (https://websitecreationworkshop.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://websitecreationworkshop.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wpm-testimonial) and check for any visible issues.

Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further.

If your site appears broken and you can't access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special "recovery mode". This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further.

    https://websitecreationworkshop.com/wp-login.php?action=enter_recovery_mode&rm_token=47vxp3HP1poTmA5c3DuS8R&rm_key=EMTQsRTj6UZ3T1gformh35

To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. Don't worry about that, though: a new link will be emailed to you if the error occurs again after it expires.

When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 6.8.1
    Active theme: Extra (version 4.27.4)
Current plugin: Strong Testimonials (version 3.2.9)
    PHP version 8.2.28

    Hello @christinahills,

Thank you for letting us know!

We recommend reinstalling the plugin to resolve the issue. Before proceeding, please make sure to create a full backup of your site (files and database), just to be safe.

To reinstall the plugin, please go to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to the Plugins section. Search for Strong Testimonials, then deactivate and delete it.

Important: Please do not click on “Uninstall,” as this will permanently delete all of your work.

Once the plugin has been deleted, search for Strong Testimonials again, then reinstall and reactivate it.

Please let me know how it goes!

    All the best,

    Cristina

I have this same error however reinstalling the plugin didn’t work. I ended up deleting it and tried to reinstall it and that did work. I have finally give ST temp access to my website. We’ll see if it gets fixed.

I have the Pro subscription but I have to wait until they’re back in the office while I’m asleep in the US.
