I also am having the same problem. I tried to cancel an event using the backend admin section, “Event Status: ” and chose “Cancelled” but the update button does nothing. I tried updating another event…same thing. The backend doesn’t respond to the Update button click. When I click on Preview Changes a new window opens with the original event, but without the changes. When I go back to the backend side of the event, the “Update” button is greyed out and a grey, spinning circle is next to it. The backend is unresponsive until I reload the page.
Hmmm, I just noticed this myself. I rolled back to version 6.0.3.1 and that seemed to fix the issue.
Same her. I forgot a picture, but now I cannot update.
I have the exact same problem! Once an event is saved, it can’t be edited or published anymore, clicking the buttons does not have any effect.
This also (but not only) affects community events. If the setting is that they have to be reviewed, they can’t be published at all: event drafts submitted through community events cannot be edited or published either.
The only way of publishing events is to create them from scratch and publish them immediately, without saving them first.
Please fix!
I’m also having the same problem. I’ve narrowed it down to the “Location”. If you detach the location (so there is no location set) it will let you update the event to save changes.
Hopefully this gives some clues to help provide a fix.
Same problem here; can create events but cannot modify them, the Update button does nothing.
Disabling all other plugins and changing theme to 2023 made no difference.
However, found that using MS Edge browser instead of my usual Firefox meant Update worked fine.
We are having the same issue over here!
Same issue. I found this when trying to update the featured image from the backend. We are using Elementor and I can however update the featured image from the Elementor editor.
Same here. Serious issue should have had a plugin update by now, no?
Same issue here, I’m going to have to revert the plugin if this issue can’t be resolved soon. Using Avada Theme.

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear about this. Yikes! I couldn’t replicate it on my end, and I would like to learn more and try to help.
Although a couple of users on this thread shared Elementor, Browser Issues, and Disabling Location β these are also helpful. I’d like to check further for me to understand and learn more about your setup. Could you provide the following version of the following?
- PHP
- WordPress
- The Events Calendar
- Theme and Version
Looking forward to hearing from everyone. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Best,
Abz

My environment:
PHP 7.4.33
WordPress 6.1.1
The Events Calendar 6.0.4
Theme: A custom Child theme on top of Twenty Twenty 2.1
However, I should note that (at least for me) the issue only appears when I use Firefox (106.0.5 64-Bit). When I tried Microsoft Edge (107.0.1418.56 64-Bit) as a workaround as suggested by @preadman, I was able to update the events in question.

My system is:
PHP 8.0
WordPress 6.1.1
The Events Calendar 6.0.4
Theme OceanWP 3.3.6 (have also tried 2023)
Browser Firefox 107.0 (64-bit); however, using MS Edge cleared the problem
A colleague running Chrome on an iPad also has the same problem.
I’ve reverted to Events Calendar 6.0.3.1 as a temporary fix.
My environment is:
PHP: 7.4
WordPress: 6.1.1
The Events Calendar: 6.0.4
Theme and Version: Custom developed theme
I noticed that when clicking “Update” nothing happens, there is no network activity in the dev tools and no javascript errors showing in devtools console. To me, it’s almost like javascript from the Events plugin is hijacking the submit event and stopping it from running completely. My hunch is it is related to field validation on the location venue still.
