I’ve decided to test the free version of Updraft Plus before I consider getting the paid version. Everything I’ve read so far says that I can back up an existing site, download it to email, and then migrate it for free to another site.

I have a three-page site that I want to back up and download to email, and then migrate it to a new domain name on the same host.

I’ve looked for videos on how to do that, but couldn’t find any. Can somebody please give me the steps to take?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

As your site sounds quite small there is another method may be quicker/simpler.
I’ve provided you directions for the approach you describe but this may be easier.

First, run a backup from the source site to a remote storage location like OneDrive.
Next, connect the destination site to the same remote storage and scan backups.

You can scan for backups using the ‘Rescan remote storage’ link in Existing backups.
Once the backup is displayed you can restore the backup directly from the interface.

If for some reason this approach isn’t possible you could use your email approach.
However, be warned this approach may fail due to size limits related to the email.

To try it select the email option in the icons in the storage options. Save changes.
Then run the backup and when the mail arrives download the files to your drive.

In the Backup/Restore tab, under Existing backups, select ‘Upload backup files’.
Upload all the backup files. When they’re all done you can click to restore them.

    Best regards,

    Nick

Thanks, Nick, worked like a charm. I’ll be keeping this advice in case I need to do it again!
