    I’ve worked through my entire site to add French translations to the English site. There are a number of occasions when the translations don’t seem to “stick.” Working with the translation editing screen, the page view appears to update to the translated version, but upon revisiting the page, the English content reappears. There didn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to this behaviour, although I think I’ve noticed that paragraphs that begin with bolded text seem more prone to the behaviour.

    Is this a possible bug?

    I think I’ve figured out the problem. Translatepress wants to translate some paragraphs in two pieces. Selecting the arrow to translate as a “block” reverts the translation.

    When I translate the bolded introductory word(s) separately from the un-bolded balance of the paragraph, the translation “sticks.”

    Still feels like a bug, though.

    What you’re experiencing is not actually a bug — it’s related to how TranslatePress breaks content into translation blocks. When a paragraph begins with bold text, or includes inline elements like <strong>, <b>, <a>, or other HTML formatting tags, the plugin splits the text into multiple pieces.

    In these cases, the best approach is to merge the fragmented pieces into a single translation block using the arrow up tool in the Translation Editor. This ensures the entire sentence/paragraph is saved as one unit, preventing issues with content reverting to English. Here’s a quick explanation of how translation blocks work and how to merge them:

    Once merged, the translations should remain consistent when revisiting the page.

    Thank you for your response. I thought I was using the plugin correctly, but I’ll do another step-by-step attempt to see if the issue goes away.

    After reviewing your comments, I’ve successfully stabilized our site translations.

    The only issue left to deal with is the translation of the site header logo. I’ve changed the header configuration a static opaque header, to avoid the logo image swap that occurred when the header was transparent. So there is now only one logo file required for each of the two languages.

    When in the translation editing screen, the English/French logos appear to swap correctly. but when I review the site in an alternate browser (Firefox, Edge), the logos do not translate!

    The language switcher is now enabled at the far-right end of the menu.

    I checked your site in multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, and Edge), and I’m not seeing the logo change when I switch between languages on the front-end either. The logo remains the same in the secondary language.

    Since you mentioned that the logo does switch correctly inside the Translation Editor, could you please share a screenshot of how it appears there? This will help me better understand how the translated logo was added and identify what may be preventing it from showing on the site. You can use a site like https://snipboard.io/ to share the screenshots.

    Hi,

    Thank you for sending the screenshot and the logo URLs — everything appears to be set up correctly in the Translation Editor, so the translated logo should be showing on the front-end.

    Since the translation works inside the editor but doesn’t appear on the site, this could be caused by caching or image-optimization layers serving an older (cached) version of the image.

    Could you please let me know:

    • Are you using any caching plugin?
    • Do you use any image optimization or lazy loading?

    If so, please try clearing your cache or temporarily deactivating your image optimizer to see if the issue persists.

    SOLVED

    I deleted all versions of the English and French logos from the site’s media library. I then uploaded new files with simpler names (logo_EN.png and logo_FR.png). Updated the theme’s selection of the logo using the new English version of the file. Then used the Translation edit screen to translate to French, and everything seems to be working properly now.

    DOH! A new issue has come up after I resolved the logo transaltion issue!

    When viewing the homepage in French, clicking on the French menu items loads the English (untranslated) page! It was working properly before I fixed the logo translation problem.

    Most of the translated menu links are working as expected (adding /fr/ to the beginning of page URLs) but the first couple are not… they link to the English pages.

    The French menu items that aren’t working are:

    Hello,

    I checked your site and for me the button “À propos” from the menu linked correctly to the French version: https://lambdafoundation.org/fr/about/.

    But “À propos de Lambda” does seem to still link to the English version: https://lambdafoundation.org/about/#about_lambda.

    Can you please enable the option “Force language in custom links” from your Settings -> TranslatePress -> General tab, and let me know if it solves the issue?
