I purchased the pro version a couple years ago and used on my site. I kept the plugin updated, and only recently found that the recent updates were not backward compatible. All my main page sliders became a real mess. I reinstalled from a backup, turned off auto updates for this plugin, and have been running the old 3.4 version.
I see you have updated the free version to a 3.5 version. Is it backward compatible? I would certainly presume you would have a lot of complaints if updating breaks the sites like mine got broken.
Please let me know whether this version will work with older sliders. Maybe I should remove my pro plugin and just use the free one.

    Hi @fngeditor!

When you have the Pro version installed into your website, then the Free version doesn’t runs any codes, so its version or any of its codes doesn’t matter in your case. On your Plugins list the Free Smart Slider is called “Smart Slider”, while the Pro version is called “Smart Slider Pro”, so you could deactivate and delete “Smart Slider” if you have “Smart Slider Pro”.

I suggest keeping the Pro version, because currently you are using its features.

We do not test backward compatibility at any of our updates, so we never suggest doing it. There were cases, when we saw, that downgrading caused settings to disappear, so this could ruin sliders. When you see something going wrong after update, we rather suggest contacting us about the issue. In this case too, please send me an export from one of your sliders, which got messed up:
    https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1728-export-import-slider
and we will take a look at what’s going on!

You could send your slider through our form:
