    It definitely will make a list of pdf documents.

    As for searching using the built-in search capabilities of WordPress will give you a list of appropriate documents for your search. You also have the ability to sort by many different categories eg. (last updated, rating etc…)

    My recommendation is to install the plugin on a test site and see if you like it or not.
