Hey boblib:
BE CAREFUL: When I tried Cache Warmer on a site running PHP 8.3, it produced a fatal error. I had to go back to PHP 7.4 in order to deactivate and uninstall it, which I could do since I’m the server admin.

Hi Boblib:
I’ve been using Cache Enabler for years. CE is smart enough to clear a cached page/post when that page/post is updated, but it does not have a built in preload feature. So after saving a page/post, you’d have to hit that page from a non logged in browser to put it back in the cache. Similarly if you clear the whole cache, you’d have to either hit each page/post manually or run a script that would do it, but I believe there are scripts out there that can do it. However CE will not put both html AND gzip files in the cache from one page call. If you have the gzip box checked in settings, it’ll create either gzip OR html, depending on which is specified in the request headers, but not both at the same time. If you want both plain html AND gzip files in the cache, you probably would need to modify the script. The Warm Cache plugin also works and is more convenient than having to run a script, but again only gzip OR html files would be created depending on which is called for by the browser that called the Warm Cache URL.

Hi Peter:
It did fail again. Here are the last 25 lines of the log. There are tons of additional “Skipping unneeded hash” lines. I do have the full log of this scan attempt if you decide you need it.
Thanks!

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Woo Product Gallery Thumbs Not Linking to Full Size ImagesHi Jonayed:
I had actually seen the post you mention, and it’s not really the same problem. This is not an issue of an image appearing distorted because it’s being displayed using the wrong aspect ratio. It’s an issue of the wrong image file being displayed. Before I continue, I’d like to let you know that I’m working on this site for a client, and the image files are pretty old, so old that they’re .GIF files, and not very large at that. The image I’m using for this example is called dmx-rotary-address-module-2.gif, which is 216×135 (quite small, I know).
And now I must apologize. Because I had not changed any Enfold options regarding WooCommerce, I thought the product gallery being used was the default Woo gallery. I was wrong. I checked Enfold’s (WooCommerce) Shop Options and found that the default product gallery was Enfold’s gallery, NOT WC, so I changed to the WC product gallery. Now when thumbs are clicked, instead of the wrong image version being displayed in a lightbox, the correct version is displayed in the area above the thumbs albeit a bit fuzzy from being stretched (because they’re so small) to fit the container’s width.
If I have additional issues regarding the Enfold WC product gallery, I’ll take it up with them.
Thank you!
ScottThanks for the reply. I’ve been using Duplicator for quite some time, so I actually do know that I could do a 2 part install. However I was hoping to find another work around since not everyone is in a position to archive their site files separately. Besides, isn’t a 2 part install more-or-less the same as doing a database-only backup, or is there a substantial difference?
Thanks again.

In reply to: [WP Fastest Cache] Portfolio Items Not CachedHi Emre:
Sorry, I guess I posted too soon. Turns out I just needed to re-save Permalink settings, and that fixed it. Not sure why that was necessary since those settings haven’t changed since the site was first created, but that’s what it was. Thank you for the reply though.

Hi WPChef:
I figured it can’t block something like an actual firewall does, but there is a section called “Blocklist” so….
However I wasn’t talking about an IP block anyway. On your Logs tab, under Blocklist, there’s a box for usernames. Are you saying that people or bots are still able to attempt to login using “blocked” usernames??? If that’s the case, then trying to block someone from entering non-existent usernames really has no effect, is that right? If the username doesn’t exist, they can’t login with it anyway, so no point in putting it in the list?
And by the way, the article you cite above that should be helpful to me, that’s MY article.
Any ideas on this folks?
Forgot to mention: In case it makes a difference, both machines run Windows. Dev machine is Windows 10 Pro; live server is Windows Server 2008 R2.

In reply to: [Contact Form 7] CF7 30 Field Max?Thanks for the reply, but it wasn’t very helpful. If there’s not supposed to be a limit on number of fields per form, can you tell me what the problem might be and what might I do to fix it?
Thanks,
Scott
