Check file upload formats and requirements for Canva
Want to use your own photos, videos, and files in your Canva designs? You can upload them to Canva and keep them all in one place.
- Canva Free users can upload up to 5GB of media.
- Canva Pro users can upload up to 100GB.
- Canva Business users can upload up to 500GB per team.
- Canva Enterprise users can upload from 1-5TB per team.

Only upload content that you own and are licensed to use. See section 4.2 of our Terms of Use for more details.
Upload JPEG, PNG, HEIC/HEIF, WebP images
- Under 50MB in size
- Not more than 250 million total pixels (width x height)
- WebP: only static images are supported currently
Upload SVG images
- Under 3MB in size
- Between 150 to 200 pixels wide
- Saved with an SVG Profile of “SVG 1.1”
Prepare your SVG files before upload
- Expand all strokes, paths, and text boxes (Select your artwork > Object > Expand)
- Group shapes with the same color together
- Avoid using textures and gradients
- Fit the artwork within the artboard (Object > Artboards > Fit to Selected Art)
- Remove unnecessary layers, stray anchor points, and invisible objects
- If you’re using Adobe Illustrator to create your SVG file, change the CSS Properties to Presentation Attributes before saving
Upload audio files
- M4A, MP3, OGG, WAV, or WEBM file format
- Not more than 250MB
Upload video files
- MOV, GIF, MP4, MPEG, MKV, or WEBM file format
- Maximum file size limit: 1 GB
Canva supports 4K exports, but it downscales uploaded 4K videos to 1080p. Even if you export in 4K, the stored version remains 1080p, which may affect the final output.
Avoid unsupported video formats
- Apple Intermediate
- ProRes 4444 (ProRes 422 Supported)
- HDV 720p60
- Go2Meeting3 (G2M3)
- Go2Meeting4 (G2M4)
- Videos with transparent backgrounds: try uploading a short version as a GIF.
Upload custom fonts
Uploading fonts is available to Canva Pro, Canva Teams, Canva Business, Canva Education, and Canva for Nonprofits users.
Make sure your font license allows embedding. If it's not, the upload may fail. If you’re unsure, check its licensing information, or contact the font provider/seller.
The following font formats are supported:
- Open Type Font (.otf )
- True Type Font (.ttf)
- Web Open Font Format (.woff)
You can upload a maximum of 500 fonts per Brand Kit.
Upload Affinity design files
- Supports .af (new unified format), as well as legacy formats: .afdesign, .afphoto, .afpub file format
- All files upload as originals with full preview
- You can convert them anytime from preview without changing the original file
Upload Adobe Illustrator files
- Not more than 300MB in size
- Only the .ai files saved as a “PDF compatible format” are supported
- Some layers may be flattened when you import the file
Import PowerPoint presentations
- Not more than 100MB in size for .ppt and 300MB in size for .pptx, .potx, and .ppsm.
- File types should be .ppt, .pptx, and .potx
- Some content may not be imported (3D objects, WordArt, pattern fills)
Import Word documents
- Not more than 100 MB in size for .doc and not more than 300 MB for .docx, or .dotx.
- File type should be .doc, .docx, or .dotx
- Comments on .docx files will also be imported to Canva
Import PDF files
- Not more than 300MB in size.
- Maximum of 500 pages.
- File type should be .pdf
When importing a PDF document to Canva, the pages become individual images in an A4 document. It doesn’t become a page of editable text like in Docs.
Import Photoshop (PSD) files
- Not more than 300MB in size.
- Design shouldn’t exceed 300 image layers.
- File format should be .psd
Import spreadsheet files (XLSX, XLS)
- Not more than 100MB in size.
- File format should be .xlsx or .xls
- Sheets have a limit of 500 rows and 52 columns.
Import CSV data files
- Not more than 100MB in size.
- File format should be .csv
If your file doesn’t upload, check the format and size limits above, then try again.
