Your questions, answered
A newsletter is a tool you can use to send relevant and comprehensive updates to people on your email list. It is a great way to connect with your network as it allows you direct access to their email inbox.
For marketers, an email newsletter is the best way to build a relationship with customers and urge them to take action in a way that feels organic. Its success is also easily measurable, so you can quickly adjust your strategy in a more informed way.
A newsletter can be written in a variety of ways. It can be a simple, friendly update, a call to action on new promotions, or even helpful life hacks or recommendations.
There are two: at 10 am, right as your computer-based worker is gearing up for the workday and checking emails, and then at 2 or 3 pm, or the window of an hour after lunch as your recipient is warming up for the latter half of the workday.
First, ask yourself why you’re starting a newsletter. What are you hoping to achieve with it? Then ask yourself how you can add value to your subscribers through your newsletter. It will also help to conduct some market listening to get to know your customers and what might be relevant or valuable for them.
You can export your newsletter layout as a PNG, JPG, or PDF file. Then, upload that to the body of your email. Finally, send it directly from your email client.
On Canva, you can directly email a link to your newsletter. To do this, click the three dots on the upper right corner of the editor dashboard. Then, look for the “Email” icon. A dialog box will appear where you can type the recipient’s email address. Click “Send” to send the email.
A good rule of thumb is to send a newsletter weekly and monitor the strategy for a month before adding more to your regular distribution schedule. Be careful not to flood your subscribers’ inboxes, though.
To export your Canva newsletter design to Mailchimp, just click the three dots on the upper right corner of the editor dashboard. Under “Share”, click on the “See all” button to expand the list where you will find the Mailchimp logo. Click on it to connect to your Mailchimp account. You should now be able to see your design saved and available in your Mailchimp content studio, ready for publishing.
