Criminal Minds will be back for a 19th season on Paramount+ and we have some updates on changes coming to the cast for the next installment.

While this is the 19th season overall of the beloved CBS show, this is the four season of the Evolution continuation that airs on the streaming service.

Showrunner Erica Messer revealed over the summer that the upcoming season will focus on Adam Rodriguez‘s character.

“Alvez has a lot going on this season, and it really kicks off in the second episode of the season, which we’ve already shot. I think it’s his year to sort of grow and shine a little bit more. And Adam’s so good. I think there wasn’t a dry eye when we screened the second episode. And that’s all I’ll say,” Erica told TV Insider.

TVLine has confirmed that the action will pick back up “six months” after the end of the previous season.

“Not 100%, because we still have Voit in our life. It’s a bit more hybrid. Remember, we didn’t solve Gold Star really until we caught Damien, so that was sort of an ongoing story for most of the season. This [next] season will feel a little different, where we’re solving standalone ‘Catch the Bad Guy’ cases,” she told TVLine.

The upcoming all-new season picks up as the FBI’s elite team of profilers investigates the deadly mystery of GOLD STAR. As the conspiracy unfolds, the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) is met with an unexpected complication when serial killer Elias Voit negotiates a deal that transfers him to federal custody in the BAU’s own backyard. The team faces its biggest threat yet and cannot emerge unscathed from the mind-bending consequences.

We just learned about some casting shakeups, including several new additions to the cast.

Criminal Minds: Evolution is returning to Paramount+ for a second season very soon and more updates have been revealed about the cast.

Season one of the revival show debuted in November 2022 and the season finished airing back in February 2023. Paget Brewster confirmed on Twitter that the second season began filming in January 2024.

The revival series follows “the FBI’s elite team of criminal profilers [as they] come up against their greatest threat yet, an UnSub who has used the pandemic to build a network of other serial killers. As the world opens back up and the network goes operational, the team must hunt them down, one murder at a time.”

Season two begins streaming on Thursday, June 6 with a two-episode premiere followed by new episodes every week.
