The 2026 Oscars are only a few months away now, and fans are eagerly debating who will take home the biggest prize of the evening: Best Picture.

The official nominees will be announced on Thursday, January 22, 2026, with the ceremony itself taking place on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

Despite there not being an official nominees list just yet, people are already placing their bets on prediction market Kalshi about who will most likely be nominated next year, pouring over $3.8 million into the market volume and counting.

The American Film Institute has named its lists of the Top 10 Movies of 2025 and the Top 10 TV Programs of 2025.

Every year, the AFI Awards recognizes the top projects in both film and television, but doesn’t do separate awards for acting, directing, writing, etc.

The Top 10 movies chosen by AFI are often the films that end up getting nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars, so this is a great first look at what you can expect for the 2026 awards season.

The New York Film Critics Circle has announced the winners for the 2025 awards, which will be handed out at a ceremony in January.

The critics group is the oldest critics group in the country, having been founded in 1935. The NYFCC’s membership includes critics from daily and weekly newspapers, magazines and the web’s most respected online publications.

The group is one of the first to announce its awards winners, paving the path for the season. “The NYFCC is proud of the exciting slate of winners selected this year and we look forward to honoring them all at our annual gala in January,” said NYFCC Chair David Ehrlich of IndieWire.

One Battle After Another is one of the big winners this year, with two awards, including Best Picture.

The Oscars will be happening in a couple weeks and there are some first-time nominees who are long overdue for nominations, like Demi Moore and Jeremy Strong.

Many of your all-time favorite actors have never received Oscar nominations, despite so many worthy roles that should have garnered them nominations.

The National Board of Review just announced the winners of the 2024 NBR Awards with Wicked winning some of the top awards.

Wicked won both Best Film and Best Director for Jon M. Chu, as well as the NBR Spotlight Award for the “creative collaboration” of stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

“Wicked represents the pure magic that movies can bring to audiences. Every detail is beautifully crafted and designed, the actors are all exceptional and the music is second-to-none – together it adds up to a transporting experience like no other. The NBR is proud to honor director Jon M. Chu and his remarkable cinematic vision,” said NBR President Annie Schulhof.

The awards gala will be held on January 7, 2025 in New York City.

The 42-year-old singer and actress is one of only 19 people in the world to achieve EGOT status through competitive awards – winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony through nominations and not honorary awards.

Jennifer is the first and only American Idol contestant to achieve the feat. Kelly Clarkson has won two of the prizes with both Emmy and Grammy wins.

She has a chance of winning another Emmy TONIGHT (June 7) as her talk show is nominated for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series at the Daytime Emmy Awards.

The winners have been announced for the 2024 Critics Choice Super Awards!

The Critics Choice Association honors the best in Superhero, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Horror, and Action movies and television.

The Last of Us leads the television winners, sweeping all seven categories for which it was nominated. In the film categories, Godzilla Minus One, Mission: Impossible – Dead Recknoning, Poor Things, and Talk to Me all received two wins each.

There was some controversy when nominations were announced as the drama film All Of Us Strangers was nominated in horror categories, which many fans didn’t think was correct.
