Kate Hudson Praises Parents Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell as She's Honored with Pioneer of the Year Award!

Kate Hudson is being honored!

The 46-year-old Golden Globe winner was award the Pioneer of the Year Award by the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation during a dinner hosted by Ike Barinholtz on Wednesday night (October 8) held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Guests in attendance supporting Kate included her parents Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, her brother Oliver Hudson, and her Running Point co-star Scott MacArthur.

After being presented the award by her Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe, Kate thanked her parents for the impact they’ve had on her life.

“For me, personally, carrying on a tradition of values that have been passed down is incredibly important,” Kate shared, via Deadline. “I was raised with an incredibly strong family unit, and I’ve always felt that when I do represent something larger than myself — it’s my family, it’s my children, it’s my inner circle, it’s a larger circle.

“And I don’t strive for perfection. I find that very boring, but I do try to live in a way that they can be proud of,” she added. “So thanks for being here tonight.”

Kate then went on to praise Goldie.

“She is the great philanthropist of our family who’s dedicated the last 25 years of her life not to the arts but to children,” Kate said. “Thank you for teaching me to think not about what I will do in my life, but who I’m continuing to become and to live with purpose and compassion. Thank you for raising me in your vibrant world, for keeping me grounded and reminding me of the power of narrative and the importance of building character and not just in the roles that we play, but in life and in the home.”

She continued, “And I want to thank my mom for being an example of true love and what commitment is, and for my parents both having the courage and the confidence and the discipline to have the same hairstyles for 40 years.”

The Pioneer of the Year Award honors leaders in the movie industry whose career achievements and commitment to philanthropy is exemplary. The award, handed out for more than 70 years, is part of a gala to support the foundation’s Pioneers Assistance Fund, which provides financial assistance to individuals in need in the distribution and exhibition community.

Kate will next be starring alongside Hugh Jackman in the musical drama Song Sung Blue, which hits theaters on December 25. Watch the trailer here!
