Carra Patterson was announced to be departing Elsbeth season three as a series regular after appearing in seasons one and two of the CBS hit series.
It was not immediately clear when she would be seen again as Detective Kaya.
While only the first episode of season three has aired after debuting on Sunday (October 12), CBS has already shared images from some future episodes…and we now know that Carra will make an appearance!

The season three premiere is airing at a special time tonight (October 12) before moving to Thursdays for the remainder of the season.
Elsbeth is actually known for having a big rotating cast of guest stars, so it’s not that surprising that many of them won’t be returning.

Carrie Preston is going pretty in pink for the season 3 premiere of Elsbeth!
The 58-year-old Emmy-winning actress joined co-stars Lindsay Mendez, Braeden De La Garza, Wendell Pierce, and Sarah Steele at the premiere of the new season of their hit CBS series on Wednesday night (October 8) held at AMC Lincoln Square Theater in New York City.
Fellow cast members in attendance included Daniel K. Isaac, B, and Ben Levi Ross.
Also supporting Carrie at the premiere was her husband Michael Emerson and the two shared some sweet kisses on the pink carpet.
Based on the character featured in The Good Wife and The Good Fight, Elsbeth Tascioni (Preston) is the astute but unconventional consent decree attorney working with the NYPD to catch New York’s well-heeled murderers, utilizing her unique perspective.
Season three of Elsbeth premieres on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 9:30pm ET on CBS and will be available for streaming on Paramount+.
It was recently announced that this late-night host will be making a guest appearance on the new season!

On Tuesday (August 12), Carrie Preston was seen on the set with her co-stars including Wendell Pierce in New York City.
There were some guest stars also seen, including David Cross, Christina Brucato, and Danielle Troiano. Based on the costumes with a Raggedy Ann and Doctor, it looks like this could be for a Halloween-themed episode!
Unfortunately, if you look through the set photos, you’ll notice a former series regular is missing. That’s because Carra Patterson, who starred in the past two seasons as Officer Kaya Blanke, is exiting the series.

Carrie Preston is making the best of a scary situation!
The 58-year-old Elsbeth actress appeared on Busy Philipps‘s QVC+ and HSN+ talk show on Wednesday (July 16).
During her appearance on the talk show, Carrie accessorized with a sparkling row of gems on her cheek. When asked about the fashion statement, she revealed that it was covering up the scar from her recent skin cancer surgery.

Elsbeth star Carrie Preston is opening up about Carra Patterson‘s exit from the show after two seasons.
Carra played the role of Kaya throughout the first two seasons of the CBS series and she will no longer be a series regular, but she’ll be back as a guest star in season three.
After the season finale aired on Thursday night (May 8), Carrie opened up about Carra‘s exit.
“It’s been in development since the beginning of season 2,” Carrie told Us Weekly.
