The 2025 F1 season has had a rough start for some teams.

From those first two races, several drivers have struggled in their cars, with some veterans trying to score points and some of the rookies doing very well.

There are only ten teams and 20 drivers on the grid this year, before an 11th team and two more drivers join in 2026.

Starting off the season, there were 14 returning drivers and six rookies making their full time F1 season debut. There are also several seat changes as only two teams kept both of their drivers.

Three of those rookie drivers next year have stepped up during the 2024 season to either fill in as a reserve driver or take over a drivers’ seat after they were let go.

Lewis Hamilton, George Russell & More F1 Drivers Pay Tribute to Eddie Jordan Ahead of Chinese Grand Prix

The second Formula 1 race of the season is taking place on Sunday (March 23) in Shanghai, China.

Ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand Prix, the drivers, team principals and more took time before the drivers parade to pay tribute to the late Eddie Jordan, who passed away this past week.

Eddie was a racecar driver before starting his own Formula 1 team, Jordan Grand Prix in 1991, where he gave Michael Schumacher his debut season.

Current F1 drivers, including Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and reserve driver Zhou Guanyu, Mercedes’ George Russell, Alpine’s Jack Doohan and more all took a moment prior to the race to honor the late, iconic team owner.

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan,” F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali previously shared in a statement. “With his inexhaustible energy he always knew how to make people smile, remaining genuine and brilliant at all times. Eddie has been a protagonist of an era of F1 and he will be deeply missed. In this moment of sorrow, my thoughts and those of the entire Formula 1 family are with his family and loved ones.”

The 2025 Chinese Grand Prix is the second of 24 races this year, with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri starting in first, followed by George in second and Lando Norris in third.
