Showtime has dropped a teaser trailer for the upcoming sequel series Dexter: Resurrection, which shows Michael C. Hall returning as his fan-favorite character.

The new series is a follow-up to the previous limited series Dexter: New Blood and it takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. But closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined—and that the only way out is together.

The original series ran on Showtime for eight seasons from 2006 to 2013 and was followed by the limited series Dexter: New Blood, which ran for 10 episodes in 2021.

Dexter: Resurrection will debut with a two-episode premiere on the streaming service Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, July 11. The Showtime channel will begin airing the season on Sunday, July 13 with episodes rolling out weekly.

John Lithgow is opening up about backlash.

The 79-year-old actor spoke to The Times on Sunday (April 27), addressing the response he’s received for joining HBO‘s upcoming Harry Potter series amid J.K. Rowling‘s anti-trans crusade.

“Of course, it was a big decision because it’s probably the last major role I’ll play,” he said.

“It’s an eight-year commitment so I was just thinking about mortality and that this is a very good winding-down role,” he continued.

The 55-year-old actress hit the stage during the show to present the award for Best Revival alongside her The Seagull co-star Tom Burke.

Fellow Marvel stars Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell, who star together in Much Ado About Nothing on the West End, also presented, handing out the trophies for Best Actress and Best Actor.

The Olivier Awards take place each year to celebrate the best in theater on the West End – the Tonys of London – and were hosted this year by Billy Porter and Beverley Knight.

A Harry Potter television series is in the works at HBO and we’re recapping all of the casting rumors.

The network has not yet confirmed any casting rumors, but some incredible names are already being floated around for the Hogwarts professors and staff. One actor has even confirmed his casting!

A casting call went out for the young actors to play Harry, Ron and Hermione this September. Unknown actors are expected to land those roles!

“We appreciate that such a high-profile series will draw a lot of rumor and speculation. As we make our way through pre-production, we will only confirm details as we finalize deals,” HBO said about casting rumors.

Production on the series is expected to begin in summer 2025 with a premiere for season one in 2027.
